This deal had “owner-endorsed” written all over it. At $28 million for two years, it was a fairly expensive last-puzzle-piece statement by the team’s brass. The Nats now have Soriano, who saved 42 last season and 45 in 2010; Drew Storen, who saved 43 in 2011; and all-star Tyler Clippard, who saved 32 in ’12.

How will they shoe-horn him in to get some closing or late game ops with Clippard and Storen?

And H-Rod should be throwing 103mph wild pitches again by Spring Training.

They have the resources and they continue to use them to try to get better.
I don't know if I specifically like Soriano - but if he returns to his form from TB, he will be a great pick up for them.

True, I just don't like the history of closers moved to set up men, much like Soriano when he first came to the Yankees.

Nats also lose their 2013 first round draft pick and since the Yankees made Soriano an offer earlier they get a 2013 first round supplemental round pick.

I was scratching my head myself. This seems like overpay overkill.

I don't know all that much about the filthy ex-Yankee Soriano, other than the fact that he's pretty damn good.

But I do know that Storen and Clippard handle lefty batters quite effectively.
