I don't think they are sworn LEO's. Are they paid for out of the Baltimore City schools' budget?

The Educational Article (ED) Section 4-406 of the Annotated Code of Maryland establishes the authority from which the Baltimore City School Police Force conducts its daily operations. According to this law, Baltimore City School Police Officers have and enjoy all the powers of any peace or police officer in the State of Maryland. Furthermore, the Baltimore City School Police is the primary agency responsible for policing property owned, leased and operated and or controlled by Baltimore City Public Schools.
To better serve the School System and Community the School Police has entered into a “Concurrent Jurisdiction Agreement” with the Baltimore Police Department. Under the Agreement, in addition to our statutory jurisdiction and authority, the Baltimore Police Commissioner has given “City-Wide” Authority to enforce the law within the limits of the City of Baltimore.

Question: Are the Baltimore City School Police real Police Officers?

Answer: Yes, we are! Baltimore City School Police Officers have peace officer status pursuant to the Annotated Code of Maryland. Our school police officers are required by state law to the same basic academy training as Baltimore City Police Officers. We are also mandated to attend yearly in-service training.

I disagree with the NRA about armed guards protection - I don't know that they would provide absolute protection. Nobody can.

But they will increase the probability that they will not be harmed.

Why can't the Obama lovers conclude that what's good for the goose is good for the gander?

Once again conservatives have set up a false dichotomy. When did the POTUS say "armed guards" aren't necessary. As has been pointed out plenty of school systems have a police force. Those are the same as "armed guards"

If armed guards = some unstable nut like you "volunteering" in a Halloween costume then that's something else...

This is what Baltimore County has... not quite the same, but sounds like there's pretty much an officer in every school. They could beef this program up (expand it to elementary and ALL middle schools) if people (i. .e tea party phonies) are willing to pay for it. They'll probably complain that "it's for da kids.."

The School Resource Officer Program (SRO) is a successful partnership between the Baltimore County Police Department and the Baltimore County Public School System. Over the past few years, the program has expanded from two officers in 1997 to at least one officer in every high school and one in all but seven middle schools. For the 2009-2010 school year, there are 63 SROs in our schools. This was accomplished by combining the School Programs Team with the SRO program. The middle school SROs also teach the D.A.R.E. program.

Yes! And I am one of those 250, 000! Two weeks ago I sat on hold with them for over a half hour. A recording kept coming on to say "Due to the assault on our 2nd amendment right our wait time is longer than usual."
I was more than happy to wait.

Really? When was that? Certainly not when it comes to criticisms of the current POTUS.

    Okay, soulflower.

Of course you have the right to disagree. I've never said otherwise.

White House calls NRA ad 'repugnant and cowardly'

Even worse, I see some here on this thread chiming in who claimed that they are against going after politician's children.

One rule for the 'nobility' and one rule for everyone else. That some have not lost their desire to worship the venal is not much of a surprise.

Are you proposing that a president's children shouldn't have around-the-clock Secret Service protection, or that every child in the country should?
