Exactly how long did it take me to figure out that a particular post of yours was intended as humorous a couple of days ago ?

    Too long.

So now, you get it ?

I actually think the politicians are the lemmings. Do you object to the Red Mass held in Washington?

Before the city and the earth stagger into Karneval (mardi gras), Cologne's Cardinal Joachim Meisner has a serious word to say. "In the past weeks, the Church in Cologne has experienced a storm in public perception, which I have never in my years as bishop experienced," he wrote to all priests, deacons, and lay people in Church service. The causes are the end of collaboration with criminologist Christian Pfeiffer in preparing for cases of abuse and the incidents at two Catholic clinics in Cologne, which turned away an apparent rape victim.

The cardinal regretted the lost of trust in the Church which as arisen. He complained of the "gloating and aggression which segments of the population direct against us." The "firmness of the Catholic position on the protection of life, marriage, and family" polarizes "society ever more strongly." "French scientists," according to the cardinal, "now regard this phenomenon as 'Catholicphobia' and indicate that no religion or denomination is targeted for public attacks as much as the Catholic Church."

The cardinal had the audacity to "complain of the gloating and agression which segments of the population direct against us". What a total unbelievablely, self righteous, asinine statement. Not one did he ever make this about the victim, that the Catholic Church again victimized with their lack of compassion.

    So what else is new?

    Songfourone--

In all fairness, we should probably read the whole letter instead of excerpts published in the paper.

    Bishops approve morning-after pill

On Thursday, the German Bishops' Conference completed an about-face on its approach to the treatment, saying that Catholic facilities in Germany were now free to prescribe such pills in rape cases, provided that the medication was used to prevent a pregnancy and not to abort an already fertilized egg.

Robert Zollitsch, head of the Bishops' Conference, announced the decision in Trier, saying that rape victims would "of course receive humane, medical, psychological and spiritual care" at Catholic hospitals. It applies to all Catholic facilities in Germany and follows a similar change made unilaterally by Cardinal Joachim Meisner of Cologne in the immediate wake of the scandal.
