It wasn't like they were going to be in the room when a bill is being submitted. They just proposed what I believe is a very common sense approach at establishing the legality of a bill. Unless of course you are in favor of abolishing the Constitution?

Do you actually believe that members of Congress routinely submit unconstitutional bills?

If so, you might want to check under your bed for monsters.

For the most part, whenever anyone starts a comment talking about how little others understand the Constitution, what they really mean is that those "others" disagree with them.
Isn't this what you're doing right now?

I am not going to get hung up in the semantics of "routinely," but yes, they do submit unconstitutional bills from time to time, only to die in comittee.

99.9% of the bills are UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Probable more.

If so, you might want to check under your bed for monsters.

Let's just say requiring all bills to include attachments from the Constitution to prove legality as common sense oversight of our elected officials. Besides, how could it possibly hurt knowing our elected officials are keeping their noses in the Constitution?!

Default What If The Majority of Americans Want Tighter Gun Laws ?

What if the majority of Americans wanted censorship of the media, press, and speech? What if the majority of Americans wanted troops to be quartered on their neighbors? What if the majority of Americans thought that warrants were unnecessary for search and seizures? What if the majority of Americans thought you should stand trial for a crime as many times as it takes to establish your guilt. What if the majority of Americans considered jury trials an unnecessary and expensive inconvenience?

    What if…?

    What if…?

What if we lived in a fascist state?

But we don’t. We live in a constitutional Republic.

And what if most Americans believe government should provide more services without raising their taxes? Wait...isn't that how Obama was reelected?!

There is no credible evidence that the majority of American's want to get rid of guns. Sure they want to keep guns out of the hands of criminals - good luck with that. The best defense if to be able to shoot and kill the bad guys.

Here in Texas we have options.

We can secede, re-join Mexico and then Holder will keep us supplied with AK47's and High-Capacity Magazines.

When I grew up the Three Stooges were the most violent thing on TV. Today the video games and apps feature killing and it numbs people to violence. Fix that problem first. Obama should lean on the entertainment and gaming industry first then focus on gun shows and waiting periods. Attack your base of support first (Hollywood) then people will respect you for going after the NRA.

You think it numbs people to violence, but threres nothing to back that up. Call of Duty hit 1 billion in sales in 15 days. That one series alone has shipped more than 100 million copies.

If violent games caused people to actually be violent, the streets would be knee deep in blood.

Sane people cannot be turned into violent killers via media of any kind.

If you have something to back up your position I'd like to see it. Your reasoning has been debunked, sometimes reluctantly, over and over again.

IMO, the problem would be actually mentally ill people, or people born into and raised in an environment that puts little value on life.

I'm wondering if anyone can hypothesize why the United States leads civilized nations in gun deaths (other countries similar to us have gun deaths in the hundreds, we had around 9,000 last year.) I'm in no way asking this as an anti-gun stance, but this figure suggests that something is seriously wrong in the US. What is it, exactly?

And seat belts and drunk driving laws don't stop highway fatalities. Do we get rid of those ?

No gun legislation will ever stop a nut from shooting people. But it may, just may, prevent children from receiving 3 -11 bullet wounds a piece the next time a nut with a gun decides to go on a rampage against them.

I like guns. I'm in the market for a 45. cal Colt Peace Maker. It doesn't need to hold 50 rounds. 6 rounds will do nicely.

Sane people don't just go around shooting people for whatever reason. America has a mental health issue.
