Default Former NO Democrat Mayor Ray Nagin indicted on 21 counts including fraud, bribery

The charges are the outgrowth of a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen.

The counts include wire fraud, bribery, money laundering, filing false tax returns and conspiracy.

Nagin, a former cable television executive, was a political novice before being elected to his first term as mayor in 2002, buoyed by strong support from white voters.

Hurricane Katrina in 2005 elevated Nagin to the national stage, where he gained a reputation for colorful and sometimes cringe-inducing rhetoric.
Wasn't this the guy that blamed GWB for all of the failures of his own administration during Hurricane Katrina?

Nagin claimed racist overtones for the failure of the Bush administration to deal with Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

As he openly exhibited his own blatant black racism by publicly declaring his wish that NO remains a "Chocolate City":

“SCHOOL BUS” NAGIN HIT WITH 21 CORRUPTION CHARGES

Reuters brings us the sad finale to the colorful career of one of the many Democrats who had absolutely nothing to do with the Hurricane Katrina disaster, because it was all George Bush’s fault:

If Nagin's found to be a crook he should serve the appropriate punishment.

I personally found his rhetoric in the aftermath of Katrina distasteful.

That said, the Bush adminstration's handling of the Katrina disaster was pathetic, and symptomatic of his terms.

This in no way contradicts that.

To quote him he'll need a "chocolate city" jury to save him!

And Nagin and Blanco's culpability in Katrina?

The same is true of Obama and Sandy.

It's not the politician, IMO, so much as it's a symptom of government. Mis-managed, bloated, wasteful and corrupt.

Works fine when those attributes are working in favor of the game players, not so well when the chit hits the fan and the general public is in immediate need.
