Someone said these things "come in threes."

Bobby Doerr, Ralph Kiner, and Yogi Berra beware, the Grim Reaper is stalking the Hall Of Fame.

Great stat.... 3630 total hits... 1815 at home and 1815 on the road!

He played nearly until 43rd birthday, adding to his totals. He got a hit with his final swing, sending an RBI single past Cincinnati's rookie second baseman -- that was Pete Rose, who would break Musial's league hit record of 3,630 some 18 years later.

    You are the Man! RIP

I found another interesting bit of trivia---

He once played the National Anthem on the harmonica before a Cardinals game.

Lifetime .331 BA & hit over 300 18 out of 22 seasons. Oh yeah, BTW he took a year off to fight in WW2. They broke the mold for men like this.

    RIP Stan "The man" Musial

He was a really nice guy too. I never recall anyone saying anything bad about him.
FYI- He originally began his career as a pitcher but was not successful.
