    Default Mass Maple Syrup Theft

Did you know there's a Global Strategic Maple Syrup Reserve? There is. Or at least there was.

The theft was discovered during a routine inventory check last week at the St-Louis-de-Blandford warehouse, where the syrup [was] being held temporarily. The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, which is responsible for the global strategic maple syrup reserve, initially kept the news quiet, hoping it would help police solve the crime quickly. About 10 million pounds of syrup was stored at the site, at a value of more than $30 million [Canadian].

Quebec produces 70-80% of the world's maple syrup, and the FQMSP (or, if you prefer, the Fédération des producteurs acéricoles due Québec) does indeed store lots and lots of syrup in a central location. It says it does this to stabilize supply in times when syrup is scarce (like now, because the American harvest sucked), and so its inventory "can, therefore, be considered a global strategic reserve."

O Canada. Even yr crime is kinda civilized. Where would you hide this much syrup? Sort of a sticky problem...

Old news, took the Canadians a while to figure it out, something about the warehouse was empty that should of been full. They shared the warehouse. Think 55 gallon drums stacked to the roof on pallets. Now think about all those little bottles of Maple Syrup, with Product of Virginia or Tennessee or Texas in the Cracker Barrel stores. Worth more than weed.

You know who uses 70-80% of that syrup, we do.

"stabilize supply" that's french for keeping the price high, OPEC stabilizes the oil supply, Russians do the same with diamonds.

Don't feel so bad for the Canudians they have been sticking it to us for a long time.

I was wondering if there was a male maple syrup and a female maple syrup and if the male syrup was therefore more valuable than the female syrup.

I am not Matt but I changed it for you. I honestly thought before I opened the thread that perhaps semen had been stolen from a sperm bank. My bad.

Thanks Mom49of4. I didn't realize the typo until someone commented on it.

About 10 million pounds of syrup was stored at the site, at a value of more than $30 million
the reports suggest it was almost all 10 million pounds
the thieves siphoned the syrup out of the existing barrels before fleeing
Just how bad was the security if somebody had enough time to siphon 10 million pounds of syrup?
There’s something about this story that just doesn’t seem quite right. Nobody noticed anything suspicious while this was allegedly happening?

They didn't notice because it was an inside job. Who watches the watchers?

Tide Laundry Detergent Theft Ring Alleged After Bust At Maryland Barber Shop

They are finding boxes of Tide Detergent at drug raids. Seems people are stealing this valuable commodity to trade for drugs.
Maybe the same thing is happening with the detergent.
