I posted it in the game thread, and I'll put it here too.
I will never doubt Joe Flacco again.
Well everyone, let's be fair to Tom Brady: one of the interceptions was a bounce off the hands, and I don't really count those against ANY quarterback. Still, it's true no matter how you look at it - Joe stepped up and outplayed Brady. Brady was average. He didn't lose the game, but he was hardly playing well enough to win it. Also, Joe was on target all night. None of his passes that I saw were close to being picked off.
I hope a few people's opinions on Joe change.
How good would Tom Brady be without Wes Welker?
That's Welker ...damn computer
Obviously, maybe some things change if Lee Evans holds on to that ball last year... but in the simplest terms... Flacco is one "lazy catch that got knocked loose" from making his second consecutive Superbowl appearance.
That's not luck. Not coincidence. You have to have a lot of talent to get where he is. And some help from teammates.
Flipped to ESPN briefly to hear Dilfer saying something about "Not to take anything away from the Ravens, but there were plays to be had that the Pats left on the field."
Gotta say, the ESPN and NFL Network talking head tables seem dumbfounded by it all.
Gotta give you that - and I am happy to do so. For me, it is all about our team.
I cannot say how happy I am for all of the Ravens tonight.
Thanks Joe -
Thanks to the whole team - Ray gets to have his final game in the Super Bowl. What more can he ask for?
Peace.
Brady did have Groin Kick to flacco's none....
I was more concerned with Joe and the offense doing their bit against the Pats defense....and they did. It was a long, long field for the most part, and they responded with a couple of 80+ yard drives, and then took advantage of the good field position later on.
I know they showed Brady a hundred times when the Ravens had the ball, but I swear, I never saw him take one snap on defense.
Joe was awesome for sure, certainly better than Brady tonight. But huge kudos to the Ravens OL and defense. The Offensive line gave Joe time to operate, and I don't think I ever heard the name Wilfork during the whole game. And the Ravens' defense just really made a stand.
