And tell me it wasn't intentional.
There are a few possibilities:
1. That he was trying to slide and his foot got up...
2. That he even knew he was going to be hit so he tried his own preemptive strike
3. That he gave in to his inner Cheap Shot Artist
Whatever way we see it, he'll have the entire off season to worry about it!
QBs slide ALL the time and their leg NEVER goes up like that. Never. And towards the end, you see his right leg actually extend. There's no other way to see it. He should have been ejected for that. But of course...no ref is going to eject the great Tom Brady in an AFC championship game. If it had been Suh, you can bet your life there'd have been an ejection.
I liked how there was no retaliation. The Ravens just knew the Pats were no match and there would soon be domination in all aspects
winning the game is the best revenge!
Thats because the Ravens knew about the 'can't touch the Brady rule'. I think what was more pathetic was when he bumped into the ref when he actually had enough balls to run with the ball and fell to the ground like he hit a brick wall.My wife and I were laughing our arses off! What a woos!
Frozen in time the slide looks a lot worse, and there's a fair point to be made that if a defensive player did this, he'd be eviscerated by the media and heavily fined by the NFL.
"You've got to keep them legs down," Pollard said, via CSN New England. "You've go to keep the legs down. We all know and understand what's going on there. And as a quarterback, when you go to slide, we're taught . . . we can't do anything. When you come sliding, and your leg is up in the air trying to kick somebody, that's bull crap."
Pollard's definitely got a point. One thing that stands out watching it again in replay form is that Brady, after putting his leg out to protect himself, then appears to make multiple mini kicks upward. Maybe he's trying to make sure Reed doesn't fall on him. Or maybe he's trying to kick Reed in a viscous manner.
It's certainly not the sort of thing that Ed Reed could do to Tom Brady, I'll tell you that. And maybe the NFL will fine him for it.
Dirty play by Brady, very reminiscent of ARoid trying to slap the ball out of a player's glove. It must be in the D-Bag handbook or something.
If you watch the slo-mo, you can clearly see the leg go up to one level, very possibly because of the nature of his slide. Then you see the foot kick up to another level that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the nature of his slide. It was clearly intentional. Whether he was "going for the knee" or some specific target, who knows. But intentionally leading with the cleats is total bull feces. It's a cowardly move.
And the league should absolutely fine him for it. They won't, because 1) he's Tom Brady, 2) QBs aren't held to the same standard, and 3) the defense that it was "inadvertant" is the CYA justification.
It was obvious to me as well.
The best payback is denying the Pats another trip to the Super Bowl.
should have been a penalty, no doubt .....
Hope the ***** gets fined!
should have been a penalty...too bad Reed didn't grab the leg instead of trying to avoid it...
