Default Groupon cancels all gun deals ......

certainly their right to do so and will be up to their customer to decide if it matters ......

I have no problem with this unlike the Sun's refusing to take gun ads .......

how can a newspaper claim to be fair and unbiased when it extends its editorial policy to its classified and bans a legal transaction ......

Groupon Inc. has stopped all current and future gun-related deals, bowing to customer pressure a month after the deadly mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. The Chicago company said Monday it has cancelled existing and planned discounts for shooting ranges, conceal-and-carry and clay shooting.

The statement didn’t specify the company’s motives or when it would resume such deals, other than to say that the “category is under review following recent customer and merchant feedback.”

I can see why they ban sales of guns, but why shooting ranges? As for the Sun, probably a liability issue, albeit a stretch.

Because the shooting range is where those creepy gun owners shoot off those icky, ungood guns. Groupon simply doesn't want to get any 'gun cooties' on themselves.

No, in the case of the Sun it was every bit a social engineering play. I cannot find a link to the disclaimer they published but the gist of it was that the Sun was discontinuing publishing any classified ads for guns becuase they felt that guns were a social evil. Someone else may have found the original text.

Their business. Their choice. I generally don't feel sorry for businesses that choose to involve themselves in political issues. These guys picked a good one.
