Give Mike Preston his due

Mike has been 'begging' Harbaugh to put McKinnie in the lineup for many many weeks. As soon as this takes place, the Ravens soar into the Super Bowl!

1) Does Preston know more than current Ravens coach?
2) Should Harbaugh hire Preston as a coach or talent evaluator?
3) If 'yes' what should his salary be?

Mikey is a wanna be through and through....legend has it he asked to be part of the staff (think it may have been when Billcik was coach) and was turned down...

Mikey had enough talent to play Div III football at Towson in the late '70's and coached recreation ball...however, he's not NFL coaching material...

the issue with McKinney, as been pointed out repeatedly, is his lack of work ethic. Once he finally started to put forth an effort in practice, his playing time went up....

MP would have played all the starters for at least the 1st half of the meaningless Cincy game, blistered Harbaugh for not doing it, and called it a big mistake.

Troy Smith would be in his fifth year as starting QB.

The error list would be almost endless. Opinions are one thing, it's his arrogance that is bothersome.

He should concentrate on doing HIS job, which as a reporter, I believe means being able to write correctly. Or at least be able to use Word review for spelling and grammar. This from Monday's article:

how do I know this?????? We were in high school at the same time but at different schools. His playing at Towson is a matter of public record. He's mentioned that ina in a column or two. We have a lot of common acquaintences and experieinces having grown up in the Essex-Middle River area...good enough?

Oh please. This is some serious grasping at straws. More than half the board here wanted Oher move to the right and McKinnie inserted back in the left. I think Preston gets half his columns from reading this board.

Preston wasn't the only one who thought Mckinny should start and if one listened to the airways of 105.7 they would come to the conclusion Mike was just parroting what he has heard to nasseum.

Personally, I thuink it had more to do with Cam since low and behold Mckinney was startin with in weeks of of Cams departure.

Generally you don't get your first coaching gig in the nfl. Why would you think a couple of decades of writing about sports would make you any more qualified to come in off the street to coach than, say a plumber or an accountant?

most individuals who want to be a coach start in the HS ranks or as a grad assistants...Mikey has zero of that, though his rec experience does count for something...if he really wanted to go that route, he would have not waited until he was in his early 40's to pursue a coaching position.....maybe the Sun will offer him a buyout and he'll pursue a job then....until then, I'd say that the entire NFL needs to explain why he's not a coach, not me...I trust their judgement and have no reason to question it.....

McKinnie was never out of shape. He stayed here in the offseason and worked out and earned his 500K bonus for doing so. The only reason he didn't play was because he was in Harbaugh's doghouse. I don't know what changed Harbaugh's mind at the end of the season but I'm glad it did because I don't think we'd be where we're at without the change.
