Default Global Unemployment Set To Rise Again

The International Labor Organization says nearly 200 million people worldwide are without jobs, and unemployment is set to increase further this year.

The ILO's "Global Employment Trends 2013" report says unemployment worldwide rose by 4.2 million in 2012 after falling for two straight years. It says one-quarter of the increase is in the advanced economies, while three-quarters is in developing economies in East and South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The report released Tuesday finds another 39 million people around the world have dropped out of the labor market and are not counted in the jobless rate.

The ILO predicts the number of job seekers will rise to more than 210 million over the next five years. The report says the labor market is particularly bleak for young people. It says almost 74 million people aged between 15 and 24 are unemployed around the world - an unemployment rate of 12.6 percent.

The unemployment rate is expected to rise through 2017.

But everything is lollipops and rainbows. We just threw a big party.

No one gives a chit. They're too busy cheering their guy on.

The US is the global hub. If these countries cannot buy our products it means our economy will suffer as well. 300 million people is not enough to support a $2.5T economy. We are not isolated from the global economy and it's woes.

Start here MM. I would make domestic energy production the next "go to the moon" program. Go after the oil and gas shale. Build nukes. If we want to produce electric cars, we need a smart electricity source to fuel them. Charging an electric car with electricity from coal seems rather foolish to me.

Alternatives - Put real money into research and stop the crony capitalist games. Be smart about how we go about it. The Chinese punked us here and we let them.

The best thing we can do to help the world is get our engine cranked up and running. Energy is the future, how many good jobs can be created doing this? Alot of our debt issues get much easier to face if the economy is really humming. Not to much mention the other benefits of having domestic energy sources.

This would be my first program.

But unemployment here has been going down. What should we do about unemployment elsewhere in the world? Why should we care?

And if you had read it you would know that global unemployment was declining 2 years in a row. We should care because we export goods to those countries.

Why do you need to work? Our current administration seems to never mention any cut of free for the stay at home. Just cuts for the programs workers have actually paid into.
