    Default Fans' Excitement and Celebrations?

Could someone comment on the level and excitement of the fans in the area please? How does it compare to the Super Bowl year and what do you think of it in general? I'm in Florida and of course it's completely different here. I watched a couple games at bars and it was like Witzke's Funeral Home. But from what I hear people are going nuts up there. Fireworks, high fives in the streets, screaming and yelling. I saw the photos of the fans in Federal Hill after the Broncos game.

A couple of my sisters, husbands, and another couple watched the Patriots game in a motel in Lancaster and the grand daughter was afraid they were going to get thrown out. Two of the women and these are older women ran out of the room after the win screaming and yelling along the balcony! And they are not even really Ravens fans.

This seems to be really something special to me. People are apparently really excited and rallying around the team.

I think people are more excited because of all the near misses the last few years. No one probably wants to hear this but with the lack of offense we had in 2000 I was relieved we even got there

Which super bowl year? Sorry, I couldn't wait to use that line, and that's the first time I've been able to do it.

The atmosphere of 12/13 compares favorably to 00/01. It's a little more surreal this time...people appreciate it more.. Ray's leaving... etc.. etc...I think people are hungrier this go round for the same reasons Ken mentioned... we've come pretty close since Joe's been here...back in 00 many of us were just happy to be happy...

You'd enjoy it I'm sure. try to make it back if you can. When we win I'm sure there's going to be dancing and screaming in the streets agin. For that reason I'm not going to NO. I was going to drive down and stay with friends, but since I know I can't afford a ticket I'd rather be here.

I think this is a little bit different than 2000. I think there are more Ravens fans now than 12 years ago. I agree that the near misses have something to do with this. The City is insane right now!!

    That's for sure.

01 was crazy, but from what I have seen in sports bars and house parties throughout the playoffs is pure anarchy

People are freaking nuts to the point if you didn't get Loonies in BelAir 4 -5 hours before a playoff game you wouldn't stand a chance at a table and that place is huge.

I have a funny story about the Ravens/Broncos game and this is probably an ideal thread in which to share it...

The day of that game, I was leaving for Taos, NM, leading a ski trip for 48 people. Unfortunately, we were going to be on a long bus ride for most if not all of the game. I prepared for it by printing out a list of all the Westwood One stations in New Mexico, hoping we would get reception. But when we boarded the bus, I found out the bus's radio was broken. So for about 3 hours, I held the bus microphone to my phone using the WBAL app for everyone on the bus to hear. So we had our own big unconventional playoff party cheering and groaning throughout the game.

Going through the mountains we lost cell coverage from time to time, especially getting close to Taos Ski Valley. At that point, I gave up on the WBAL app, and relied on a different app to just track the details (without audio). As we arrived, I broke the news, "the Ravens failed to convert on 4th down with just over 3 minutes to go. It's over." After we got everybody checked in, I opened the app again to see the final bad news. What?!?!?! Jacoby Jones touchdown, tie game, 30 seconds to go, heading to overtime! I raced up to my condo, flipped through the channels as fast I could to find the game, and entertained my condo-mates by pacing around the room and jumping up and down when the game really was over. They said they thought I was going to fall through the floor.

So it was certainly a very unique experience, and one that our group won't forget!
