Not a good thing, he should retire.
Looking at his stats, not that bad this year. But watching every game, the constant missed tackles are a killer.Even at 35, Reed would likely draw a fair amount of interest around the league which could mean a very different look for the Baltimore defense next season.
For the Patriots???
Vet. minimum
He had that arm injury this year though. If he's at 100% next season he'll still be an asset.
Ozzie Newsome says: "That's nice, Ed. Who you playing for?"
This is a young man's game. Thirty six next year with nagging injuries the last two. Time to follow Lewis as an analyst for some network.
Ed Reed is not going to retire. He knows he might have one more fairly big payday coming. It won't be a blockbuster, but it will be enough to make him want it. It also won't be with Baltimore. The Ravens have already given out some big contracts that maybe they should have thought about a little more. Flacco is getting his big payday and there is no room left for any other spending. Ed Reed's last game with the Ravens will be Superbowl sunday, it will not be his last game in the NFL.
It's a shame Ed Reed can't realize how much his overall play has deteriorated over the past few years. Hopefully, Ozzie Newsome won't be as delusional and just release him. Not only can't he stay healthy anymore, but his tackling is nonexistent, leaving other defensive backs out to dry. He's had a great career but if he insists on bleeding out another year or two, let's hope it's somewhere else. All he's doing for Baltimore is chewing up valuable cap space.
