    Default Excited about GC

With an amazing talent of OL/DL returning and gifted crop of young talent in house including Ekwoge, Paye, Jones, Ashley and others... Good Counsel having one of the best recruiting classes in Milloys tenure I would have to say the state of GC is strong !!

Should be a great 2013.... Gilman and DeMatha appear to be as strong as ever it should be interesting.....

Probably will be at the rate Poggi, Hank Russell, Baucia and McGregor is going. With the 7th grade Team Maryland just winning the FBU National Championship and beating power states like Louisiana in the process, with Hamilton Rec's 14U team winning their National Title, Maryland is becoming better and better. And Gilman is at the front of the list as far as getting the top players.

In the upcoming Class of 2017 on a couple of people who follow the youth leagues across the state Top 10 lists of the best players, Gilman is getting 6 of the Top 10 players including the consensus #1 player. And will get 11 out of the Top 30!

No, some of them are already at the school in the middle school. Gilman's 8th grade team would have killed their Fresh/Soph team. They were incredible. They will be bringing in close to 10 though. This class will definitely go down as its best to date.

In 2 years mark my words, Gilman will be playing for a Top 5 National ranking. The issue will be the offense and I'm hearing they are revamping the offense. Kai Locksley will be the QB and at 6'5 180lbs Gilman can't run the offense they have been running with Darius and Shane. He will get killed trying to run like that. Look for Gilman to put in an Offense like what the Redskins run with RG3. With players like Locksley, Antonio Dupree, Dorian Maddox, Bijan Rhett, Danny Blair, Robert Branch, Korey Stephens(remember this name) and an OL that will be the biggest in school history, this offense will be DYNAMIC!

Maryland is just loaded with football talent and Gilman is getting it's fair share of the best. If you're a qualifying student, Gilman is getting you. Sounds like they won another heated battle for the #1 youth league player in the state this year(and one of the best in the country), just like they did with Ellison Jordan last year. It's sad that they got rid of the playoffs but the gap between Gilman and the rest of the MIAA will continue to grow! CHC isn't getting the studs this year but will be strong next year. Same with McDonogh. If you don't beat Gilman next year, it could be sometime before any team in the area beats them.

No doubt that Gilman is loaded and will be ridiculous over the next 4 years. They just keep getting better and better. They will reload this season, but they will still be very hard to beat.

However, watch out for St. Frances. CHC and McD will make some noise this season, but I think St. Frances will eventually become rivals to Gilman and give them a game in 2014 and beyond. It should make for a good rivalry in the coming years. If not, I think the league will eventually fall apart because no one wants to be in a league that is dominated by one team, especially when that league has no playoffs. It takes away from the incentive for the rest of the teams.

I know St. Frances is out there recruiting at a high rate but they just don't have the resources to contend with Gilman and the MIAA-A will not allow them to do the things they did in the C. There will be no more of the multiple 5th year seniors. What SFA is doing that only Gilman is doing in the conference, is getting players from all over the State(and out of the country in SFA's case). I see them as becoming a Rival to CHC but not to Gilman.

I agree with you though, I see the MIAA disbanding in the future. I think outside of the upcoming year, the gap between the league and Gilman is just going to be so large that the league falls apart. You're also right about the playoffs, no one wants to play in a league any longer without a playoff. CHC-Loyola will keep their Turkey Bowl and another league will form where they will not be any restraints on a real playoff system.
