Default Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan

Time to bring this 5 year debate back up. What do you think? I say Flacco by far

For fantasy football, I'd take Ryan.

    For reality, I'd take Flacco.

exactly! if we were playing in a parking lot, gym class style and they were both standing next to each other I might pick Matt Ryan. If i wanted to win a Super Bowl, no doubt about it I would pick Joe Flacco

Joe still has the bigger arm; even out of college that was the case. So really...I'd take Joe in any scenario.

ESPN ran a QB long throw competition for the 2008 rookie class and Ryan's longest throw was 60 yds and Flacco's was 74 yds. HUGE difference

I can't believe this is even a question. Right now it's Joe by a mile. When Joe wins the Superbowl the debate will be put to rest forever. At that point Matty Ice can't even be in the discussion until he wins a Championship. Then we'll just sit back and count Superbowl wins for each QB.

Well by his logic the Redskins had a better year than the Ravens because they lost to the mighty Seahawks and the Ravens took the easy path through the overrated Colts, Broncos and Patriots.

I think his mind might implode if the Ravens beat the 49ers who beat the Falcons who beat the Seahawks who beat the Redskins.

Did he actually say that? what an idiot! the Redskins barely squeaked into the playoffs, lost at home to a jet lagged team that had to fly 3 timezones to get to the game and then lost their QB for possibly all of next season (Hail2Bang said he'll be back by week 1 since he knows an orthopedic surgeon). And let's see the Ravens are pretty much healthy and are in the Super Bowl. Yeah, tell me who had a better season

I once determined (I think it was either '96 or '98) that UMBC's men's basketball team would have beaten Kentucky for the National Championship. I think it went like this: UMBC beat Coastal Carolina, who beat College of Charleston, who beat South Carolina, who beat Kentucky. or something like that.

I know everyone is tired of Joe being unfavorably compared to Ryan. I know I am. However they are both very good QB's and it is possible to believe both are good without your head exploding. They are both capable of carrying a team on occasion and they are both capable of throwing in a dud of a game on occasion. Fortunately for the Ravens, Joe tends (at least in the last few years) to throw in his duds during the regular season and Ryan tends to do it in the playoffs.

...and you'd be sitting home, eating popcorn with him, during the playoffs (well, he did win one playoff game this year - I'll give him that. But he almost lost that one too. ).

Through the regular season and post-season combined, Joe has 30 TDs and 10 INTs. That's what you want out of the position. Who cares if he doesn't throw 35 or 40 TDs in the regular season! I posted the trivia question a few weeks back... while we convince ourselves that the only way to win a SB these days is to have a 5000 yard / 40 TD guy throwing the ball... the actual results show otherwise. Be smart, move the offense, protect the ball. It's what Tom Brady did more when the Pats were winning their 3 rings.

Joe had that brief stretch where he was turning the ball over, but it went against all his career evidence. Some thought that was somehow more relevant than everything else he'd done before. That's tunnel vision. It's always been the case while he's been here... and frankly while ANY QB has been here since around '98 / '99... protect the ball on offense and you almost always win. Doesn't matter if you put up huge numbers or not, doesn't matter if it's pretty or not, doesn't matter if your offense makes fantasy league experts happy... just protect the friggin' ball and you're chances of winning are astronomical.

Don't worry their whole team is on the couch with him much. Just like a certain Raljon based team is as well. Whoops, i guess my "inferiority complex" is showing again lmao

    No, just your ignorance.

You guys have won with a mediocre QB before. Maybe you can do it again. That doesn't suddenly make him a great QB.
