Yes and those that choose not to register will also be in criminal possession of theirs it is like the arguement about how can an illegal immagrint be law abiding if they came here illegally. Those that choose not to register are also going to be law breakers!

And BTW, the excon example is bullshiite because the SCOTUS has ruled that excons have the right to prevent the government from forcing them to incriminate themselves !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes but you do not need a gun for that!

There is no constitutional right to enter the United States illegally.

But I'll play your game - let them prosecute both of your examples.

The gun owners will get a citation and will be forced to register their "assault rifles."

And every person here illegally will be immediately deported.

    I'm on board.

    You?

Yup but the expense and excercise in futility is what stops me. You also need to presecute the employers that enable them. If you actually did so agressively most would leave and than you could round the rest up and get ride of them. Either way the individual not registering their gun is a criminal.

And you believe that having citizens -- who haven't been convicted of any crime, and have in their possession a legally acquired semi-automatic rifle that looks scary -- register that weapon with the Government ISN'T an exercise in futility?

Of course it is. The weapons proposed in this ban account for less than 0.1% of murders in the USA. Just a "feel good" law because some group of gun haters decided "something" must be done, regardless of the effectiveness.

And then let's examine the expense - a needless expenditure of funds (run by the Government, so you know they'll be fiscally responsible ) to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

    Unlike illegal immigration.

Same arguments used against a comprehensive voter ID law, which the left seemed to believe were a solution in search of a problem.

AMEN! Enough is Enough! I know many people who truly think another Civil War is coming.

Hopefully Maryland will stand with NY. We have a crappy corrupt governor also.

If the law requires them to register it and they don't....they are comitting a crime! If they find that crime so easy to committ what will stop them from something more serious like carrying them in a school zone?

BTW I am not against ID laws like South Carrolina if the government is really ready to pay for it the problem is some want a voter ID, don't want to pay for it and want to make people jump through hoops on a months notice! Like PA!

Considering that 1/2 of all American don't vote, if ex cons want to vote Ok, they paid their debt. I've known a couple mentally unstable people and they vote.
