Sounds like good advice. Purchase a firearm if you can legally do so. Learn how to use and maintain it. Learn how to safely store it. Familiarize yourself with the laws governing the use of deadly force in the jurisdiction where you live. If confronted with a situation where the use of deadly force can’t be avoided then it’s a good idea to speak with an attorney before speaking to the police.

So the sheriff thinks people should keep a self-defense firearm in their home? I agree. And nothing that Obama has proposed would impede that.
