    Default Terps/Duke

a couple of comments on the game

our guard play is the reason this team loses....it's beyond bad. They can't shoot, they turn the ball over.....and they go long stretches without pounding the ball down in the paint. WHY IS THIS COACH ?

hey coach.....why don't our guards pressure the ball and PUT THEIR HANDS ALL OVER DUKES GUARDS ?????????????????????

Mitchell will be a star !

What position was Alex Len playing today? In the second half, he was out chasing guards while leaving Plumlee alone for easy dunks.
Agree that Charles Mitchell is a beast.

It looked like Alex Len was playing the point at times during the game. I think Turgeon should just pick 5 players to start and stick with his choices. But it won't matter in a couple years when Penn State and Rutgers become our regional rivals.

There is no question. The guard play is killing this team. I was surprised because I thought we would be ok with Howard in his sr year and Faust a year more experienced. Plus we had a few coming in. But none of them can run the game against ACC level teams.

Every year Duke has a guy (or two) who is a major 3 point threat. Once again, Maryland does not. This has been a real hole in their recruiting that has gone one for over a decade now.

    Hail to the Redskins!

In Howards freshman year I really thought he would be a decent point guard. Nothing special.....but he could get the job done. WOW.....how far has this guy fallen and can't get up ? Looks to me like his confidence is totally shot.

Also agree with the other poster....we struggle form behind the arc.

Pe'Shon had ACL repair surgery last year. He may not have fully recovered.

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said. i also think turgeon should take advantage of our depth and press more....along with mitchell, layman is going to be special....but watching the backcourt is almost like watching the bad news bears

Young back court, whose only experienced player has had a broken foot 7 knee in the last 18 months or so....

    Inexperience all over the place

    AND

The TERPS just have to realize that since announcing the move out of the ACC, they have become personna non grata, and will be playing 8-5, especially on the road.

I find it ironic that the dook fans were taking the "good rittance" tone with MD. Once again showing their class, they seem to forget that the ACC was the elite BB conference it once was BECAUSE of the other teams not named Tar Heel and blue Devil.

Once the rest of the teams defect(FSU and CLEM to SEC next?) the ACC will be nothing more than confrence USA without the marquis coaches anywhere but dook and unc.

Anyone REALLY think coaches the caliber of calapari/pitino/etc are going to play 3rd fiddle in the ACC for any amount of time?

They will leave the schools for greener pastures, and the ACC will be stuck with glorified JuCo schools as the foils to the tobbacco road roylaty.

Honestly, I didn't think the guards played poorly in that game. I think some of our younger players played poorly on D, especially at the 3 point line, but when you have a guy that is that hot, there is sometimes very little you can do to stop that train (see: Layman, Terps vs. Hokies).

I do wish Len would stick around for a 3rd year, but I know it ain't gonna happen.

Oh, and it's "riddance" not "rittance."

the "quotes" obviously did not effectively note the play on the word....

Ever speak to a real Murlandur? they say "rittance" and "bambalance" and "wudder"....

How is Len overrated? I don't think the Terps get him the ball enough. Mitchell is a beast and I think will have a Lonny Baxter type of career.

PG play is the reason Terps are losing. Terps do not get any easy baskets in the half-court set. There are no drives and dump-offs to big men for dunks, or drives then kick-out for 3's. Seth Allen doesnt take care of the ball well enough to play PG, Howard can't shoot and constantly over-dribbles, and Faust is trying his best, but is not a PG.

True, it's not like MD students have shown much class.
