Sure, but only because I wanted to know what happened to a post that WAS on topic. It was a legit post....so why was it deleted. Mom explained...end of story. But I guess not for some of you.

The waiter upon hearing the comment should have offered to move the customer to another table as many here have stated. It's not the customer's repsonsibility to work for the restaurant. He may choose to ask to move, which is a request that the waiter should honor.
Of course the waiter should have offered....but short of that, the customers could have requested another table. That would be their right.

I think this entire incident is the fault of the waiter/s.

I certainly agree that this could have been handled better.

I also suspect that had this child NOT been the child of parents whom the staff (apparently) knew very well, that it probably would have been handled entirely different.

But thanks for your trolling comments. So, I can count on your vote?
Are your wailings about every little move Mom makes, relevant to the topic? No, didn't think so.

Still trolling, I see. Still off topic, I see.

    Every?

Just those that I happen to read...and then suddenly, disappear. Some at the hands of mom.

I'll expect your support when I petition to become a moderator...

Would it have happened if the child were well known by the staff but was not a special needs child? Regardless of how well known the child is to the staff, the waiters are in the restaurant to do a job, not be disruptive or cause disturbances. A simple greeting by the waiter would have sufficed, or should each guest be treated differently?

    Relax.

I'm not defending. I'm simply stating an opinion, and my opinion is - the staff's familiarity with the parents (and child) played a part in their reaction to another customer's comment. I seriously doubt they would have refused service to this customer, if they did not know and had not been friends with the family of this special needs child.

    You are free to disagree,

It isn't about special needs. It is about being able to behave properly in the restaurant. If you can't behave, don't go.

    Since January 20, 1981, that's not rude; that's inalienable, God-given, Jesus-approved right!
