Saddam Hussein was elected too. 100% of the vote.

Tyranny against wealthy slave owners? Thanks for the early morning laugh
We have a democratic system that works. The country swings from Right to Left and Left to Right every generation.
Discussion of taking up arms against the governing majority is just loony. It was crazy when the Left talked that way in the 60s and 70s and its crazy people on the Right doing it today.
If you feel like the majority of the country is tyrannical, you should leave. Go to a country that is more friendly to your governing philosophy..
Hitler was also elected.
Don't tell me to leave a country where my people were here before yours. Maybe you should leave and go back to Africa. If you don't defend the rights of others then don't expect them to defend your rights. You are nothing special.
One of the biggest mistakes the British made was allowing slaves to be brought to these shores. Do you agree with that?

Sorry to offend you but I'm a mutt. My ancestry is African, Irish, and Native American. My grandfather is a white-looking Native American with blue eyes. I share no cultural affinity with Africans or Europeans. My cultural affinity is shared with Northeastern suburban liberal Americans. I have no where to go back to. And since America is a melting pot, I'm as American as one can be.
I'm for defending all rights. I just disagree with the view that the 2nd Amendment is the most important of our Rights. There's nothing more important than freedom of speech in a Democratic society.
No. But I think the Founding generations of the US should have dealt with the issue rather than kicking the can for a generation or so and letting it lead to a Civil War.
In Democratic societies, there's always the threat of "tyranny of the majority". Majorities sometimes support bad policies. I get that.
I have no problem with non-violent civil disobedience or other non-violent ways to voice one's disagreement with "tyranny of the majority".
But I think it's nuts to even seriously discuss armed resistance to the governing majorities at this point in time. That's not what the 2nd Amendment was meant for. Otherwise, treason wouldn't be a crime...
Ithink you hit the nail squarely on the head there. I think a big part of the problem is that is the common understanding of the common man Democratic and Republican have ceased to be understood as forms of government. The common understanding of these two terms have deteriorated into them merely being political parties. That obscures that fact that at time the US Constitution guarantees more than what the parties are offering. To be clear the US Constitution creates a democratic (Federal) republican (State) form of government.
Only in metaphorical theory. In the pratical application of physic you'll find that the sword is far more mightier than the pen. We do not live in a metaphorical universe. Since we live in a physical universe, I want something more than a pen protecting me from that freakin' sword.![]()
Seriouly, what idiot takes a metaphor to a gun fight? You tell an advancing army we have metaphors and pens. I'll bet my bottom dollar and everyone on top of it that they don't retreat. I would tell you to come back and let me know how that works out. But I don't think you would be able to do that.
