Default Christopher Walken shuns computers and cellphones for the simple, creepy life

I assume his life is better because of it:

Christopher Walken, everyone's favorite oddball character actor, may be critically acclaimed for his acting work, but he's apparently not the one to go to the next time you need technology advice. Speaking to Jon Stewart on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Walken admitted that he has more or less shunned today's technology traps, as he doesn't own a computer or even a simple cellphone. When asked how he gets information, he replies "I ask my wife." Amusingly, each time that Walken is on set for a movie, the film's producers give him a cellphone so that he can be easily reached during filming. This isn't the first time that Walken has admitted to being a bit of a technophobe: back in 2007 he said more or less the same thing in an interview with Details Magazine. But as fans of Walken, it's always fun to watch him in person, so check out the video clip below for all of the not-so-gory details on his avoidance of technology.

    Interview quoted via USA Today:

The internet? "I missed all that."

Stewart: "Well, it's still here. I mean, you can jump on it now."

Walken: "I did it. I remember when transistor radios happened." (Raucous audience and host laughter.)

Stewart: "You jump on that yet or no? You still waiting?"

But Stewart gets even more incredulous when he learns that Walken doesn't have a cellphone, either.

    Walken, matter-of-factly: "Nope."

    Stewart: "Do you feel Amish?"

Stewart: "But when I make a movie, they hand me one, and I always think: that's nice. But you know, it's not for me. It's so they can get me."
I generally don't watch the interviews on The Daily Show unless it's a particular author or someone like that, but when Chris Walken, Brian Williams, Dennis Leary, or Bill O'Reilly are on they are not missed.

you never know where Christopher Walken will turn up...
    --------------

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/...7_story_1.html

Superstar D.C. restaurateur Joey Belcher lives, and dies, in the fast lane

...At Sticky Rice, Belcher decided that the answering machine had to include, after options for reservations and directions, the choice of listening to a speech by actor Christopher Walken.

“Press 5 if you’d like to give us an impression of Christopher Walken,” the voice says. “Press 6 if you’d like to hear a sad trombone.”

“ ‘Just do it, it’ll be funny,’ ” Belcher told Groeschel after writing the script. The Walken option became popular with customers, and sometimes Belcher could be found at his desk late at night cackling as he listened to the impressions....

His cadence when saying "little man" in that scene is about as Walken as it gets.

    "Frankenstein never scared me.
    Marsupials do, because they're fast."

I know he didn't actually say it, but its still funny imagining him if he did.

good for him....for better or worse the human race has become too dependent on their "magic" toys.....I admire anyone who has found a way to avoid being wedded to their cellphone, computer, pda and whatever else "time saving, make your life easier device" is out there....

Sorry to ruin the Walken love fest, but who could forget this tragedy of a beautiful woman?

Natalie Wood may have been attacked before drowning death: report
The new report has thrown every major facet of the original coroner‘s report into question — but doesn’t go so far as calling it homicide.

Good grief, was that really necessary to inject into the discussion?

It's not like we're idolizing Walken as some sort of infallible individual. The dude is just weird (and often funny because of it), and that's a good thing to have around in the "pretty boy" acting world.

I know the guy hasn't been charged with anything so I'm not going to go assuming he's a murderer or an accessory to one.

It does add to his strange mystique.
