Default Who Do you Think Is More Likely To Belive In Conspiracies,Liberals or Conservatives?

Given the sway Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Hannity has over the right and even a modest scan of internet conspiracies and who proffers them, I have to say that Conservatives will believe anything that promotes their agenda no matter how ridiculous or how wrong it can be proven to be.

    What do you think ?

This thread is in response to a current thread that claims that Obama supporters are unintelligent and uninformed.

I have to partially agree and partially disagree. I think it depends on who is in power. At this point in time, yeah you would be right because democrats hold the power. But I remember the Bush years and liberals were as off the charts with their ridiculous conspiracy theories as some radical conservatives are now. To name just a few, Bush and Cheney masterminded 9/11 so they could invade Iraq, Bin Laden would be captured right before the 2004 elections in an "October Surprise", Bush would declare Marshall law and cancel the 2008 elections, etc. When republicans gain power again, the democrats will be the ones with all the crazy theories promoting their agenda. Until then, the radical convservatives will be the ones making fools of themselves by believing every insane theory against Obama and the democrats.

Neither. Most of them are extreme Libertarians, anti-government nuts. Which is a shame because moderate Libertarianism is one of the better stances, IMHO.

I would love an example of a known left leaning organization(s) that support conspiracy theories as bizarre, far fetched, frequent or with solid evidence that they are not true, yet still continue to believe as those on the right. You cannot. The examples you give above were not exclusively held by democrat. And you know that. You know for example that the survivalists, the Arian nation, and even some members of the group now known as the Tea Party, to name but a few, were also among the ranks of the "crazy" theorists regarding Cheney and Bush. And still are.

Meanwhile, as of Jan 27, 2013, republicans are in my opinion, the king conspiracy theorists. And I personally have never met a truly intelligent or intellectual conspiracy theorist. Have you ?

Ok. Well who's more prone to be a conspiracy theorist. Conservative or liberal. Democrat or Republican ?

The right is mostly wrong on this stuff.
Oswald killed JFK, Ruby killed Oswald, Ray killed King, Sirhan killed Bobby Kennedy.
When people cannot explain stuff the conspiracy nuts come out. Sometimes ****tee happens!

DailyKos, which started sometime in the early 2000's, Air America, even as brief as it was, and Democratic Underground are all examples of liberal organizations which expoused the beliefs I stated during the Bush presidency. Those examples were certainly not held as belief by all democrats. In fact, I would guess that they were not held by most democrats or liberals. But then I think you know that most conservatives and republicans don't believe all of the ridiculous theories that some of the small radical right believe. As for meeting a true intellectual conspiracy theorist, I can say no, I haven't. But then I really have only met a few people who really believe such nonsense to begin with. One was a guy who I talked to at a bar one night who claimed he was in Iraq and then proceeded to tell me we will never find Bin-Laden because he was paid by Bush/Cheney and they had hidden him away as part of the deal. So I see what you mean about conspiracy theorists and intelligence.

If there is a difference between the left wing nuts and the right wing nuts it is too subtle for me to pick up on.

"More Likely To Belive In Conspiracies,Liberals or Conservatives? "

Personally, I think the conspiracy is to try to convince us there're liberals & conservatives: but who'd conspire to convince the world that Americans are complete & irrevocable @$$ho!es? I mean, other than "complete & irrevocable @$$ho!es."

I'm sure anything other than equivocation will be unpopular here, but where liberals have a conspiracy-minded fringe, conservatives have a conspiracy-minded mainstream.

Who is most likely to believe in conspiracies...?

The under-educated, the un-or-under informed, those prone to seeking simple solutions, those paranoically distrustful of everyone,...

    Liberal or conservative?

    Irrelevant, given the above...

    ...but if the shoe fits...

It depends on the conspiracy........I do have a question for Liberals though.
How is it that you need a background check to own a gun but not to run a country?

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Remember when Bush was president and we had all this talk of how he was planning to get a third term? I hear that now from my rw friends with regards to Obama. It was silly then and it is silly now.

Exactly. I said the same thing. For some reason there seems to be a short memory from some people.

Not really, do you? I just did a search looking for it and all we get on Bush third term is stuff about Obama or Romney being Bush II (thus third term Bush).
