Default Georgia man guns down immigrant after GPS sends him to wrong driveway

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/01/2...rong-driveway/
Gandy Cardenas, who was in the car, recalled to WAGA that the homeowner made no effort to speak to the group before opening fire.

“He didn’t talk to them, he just started shooting,” Cardenas explained. “The first shot was in the air.”

At that point, Diaz tried to turn the car around to leave, but Sailors fired another shot, striking the immigrant on the left side of the head. The group, which included a 15 and an 18 year old, said that Sailors held them at gunpoint until police arrived.

'Sounds more like murder, but as a liberal, I apparently have insufficient knowledge of the shooter's "rights".

I'm sure there will be gun-rights advocates who defend the shooter. (Even more so if the victim had been an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, rather than a free-ticket immigrant from Cuba.)

This *** should spendthe rest of his life in prison. There is no reason for this shooting. Unnecessary force was used without provocation. We need to make an example of cowboy *** wholes.
And the GPS manufacturer needs to be sued.

The only "certain" thing here is that The Usual Suspects(tm) will fall all over themselves making pointless comments.

I'm with you on throwing this d-bag under the jail for this senseless shooting. But, why should the GPS manufacturer be sued? There's no guarantee either stated or implied of 100% perfect directions each and every time from any GPS device. Not only that, but we don't know how accurately the information was entered into the GPS device to begin with.

Hmm, post has been up since this morning and your prediction has failed to materialize.

There might be a bit more forthcoming information on this case that would shine a bit more light on this situation. The account given was from someone who was in the car. Why someone would pull into someone else's driveway if they knew the actual address?

The account given could be correct, but then again ~ we really do not know at this point.

    Really?

How did that post defend the shooter? The poster only pointed out the obvious questions in the reported story. Didn't see one iota of defending the shooter unless of course one can read that poster actually meant something else while writing this

Maybe you can marget your mind reading capabilities and give me a score for the SB this Sunday?

If you see that as an attempt at excuse~making, then you're as guilty as some of those on the right who immediately jump to conclusions without having all the information about a case that none of us know first~hand.

I'm not defending the shooter. I'm just stating that at this point we are only hearing one side and that is from someone who was in the car. Perhaps they told it exactly like it happened.

It's a shame that wishing to hear more information is considered a bad thing.

I never said more information was a bad thing. I said your statement was getting close to a defense of the shooter.

Good point. Not enough information in the story to come to an intelligent conclusion. While he has been charged, he hasn’t been convicted of anything. I would like to hear both sides of the story.

It is reported to have happened at night, so I imagine it was dark. The people in the car may have indeed pulled into the wrong driveway, particularly if they were not familiar with the neighborhood or many of the houses looked alike. The homeowner may have also been at a higher alert if it was dark.

However, police did see fit to charge the homeowner with murder. We'll have to wait to find out more.
