Anne Arundel County is going to get a new county executive. The need somebody that can start the job with little on the job training.
EHRLICH FOR ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY EXECUTIVE!
No, it's not plausible at all. People have been jockeying for this over the last two years. Ehrlich isn't going to come in as some sort of savior. Besides, the Republican Party needs to move on from the past. Ehrlich is irrelevant. Jerry Walker, Ron Dillon and Ed Reilly have the best shots at getting the needed four votes.
If he cared anything for AACO, he knew a continued fight would only bring more unwanted embarassment and exposure to the county.
Yes, he did the right thing.
Although when I met him, I thought he was a decent enough guy, and for the most part, did right to most residents of the county. I wish the guy no ill-will.
Maybe the former gov may want another shot at the big time.
The MDGOP in general is still trying to get out from under the "Ehrlich" shadow. Leopolds replacement will likely be someone who is or has been active in Anne Arundel Republican politics.
It would be crass to give Kendel the job based on her married name. As for the former~governor, it would be seen as a step down and a very desperate attempt to get back into Maryland politics since he has made public statements that he is "done" with seeking public office in Maryland and viewed his reelection as goverrnor in the last election as key to a comeback that would result in some sort of national position either as president or vice president. Giving the county executive position to either would reek of a sense of entitlement and be a slap in the face to other Anne Arundel elected officials and voters alike.
It is far more likely they will give the position to the current acting replacement or someone like Rielly than either Ehrlich. Even Don Dwyer would be a smarter choice than another episode of "Back To The Future".
Didn't Leopold agree to repay AA County for his legal fees if he lost? I wonder how that will work out now? If he went 2 out of 2 on his cases will he pay back 1/2?

I have to admit I did not believe all of these charges when the issues first came to light.
I figured that he was being targeted because he was a high profile Republican and was (somehow) a bit of a playboy. But this was far more than a creepy old guy getting some.
This guy abused his power and broke the basic rules designed to separate the political life from the public job. And he has obvious flaws in his moral character.
I was wrong and I am glad he is out of office.
He clearly over-stepped his political authority, and did a number of things that were highly questionable, if not unethical.
But I don't think I would characterize him as a "creepy old guy getting some". He was single, and as such, nothing he did to "get some", violated any marriage vowes. Now, the manner in which he got some, was beneath a man in his position. But hey, it's not like he pulled a Bill Clinton with some 22 year old White House intern!
Well, maybe he's not married, but I wouldn't call him single either. He is or at least was in apparently in some sort of committed relationship with a live-in girlfriend. Of course we do not know the dynamics of that relationship, but it would seem to at least have been percieved as a monogamous one by the live- in, given that a scene occurred at the hospital when the live-in encountered the extra-curricular GF, and the cops were ever since instructed not to let that happen again. I don't think that speaks well for his character.
I have to question what these women looked like. This guy wore a colostomy bag?
Read more: http://www.abc2news.com/dpp/news/reg...#ixzz2Jn5EJGifThe indictment says Leopold used his security detail of county police officers to keep watch while he had sex with women in cars, to run personal errands and even to change his colostomy bag.
Duties that Atkinson says were way out of the scope of what officers were supposed to do.
And when they complained nothing happened.
“As one of our members said at our meeting tonight we've been collectively been changing Mr. Leopold's pee bag for years and this is kind of the antithesis of the situation we're in it shouldn't have happened I think the officers were very upset about it they brought it through the chain of command and they were told hey hey hey keep him happy keep him happy and that's inappropriate." Atkinson says.
