Default NEW POLL: 60% of Maryland Democrats are pro-life!

Hat tip to Marylandjuice.com for the provocative title of this threat. The newest Gonzalez poll shows that 60% of Maryland Democrats oppose the death penalty.

The Gonzalez poll is one that is respected by both parties. The poll also asked about the gas tax, Obama and O'Malley job approval and if O'Malley should run for president.

Thay used an 800 person poll to say most Marylanders support the gun ban too. People will use these polls or slam them depending on if they agree with the results. Now, if they polled tens of thousands across the state and across other variables (income, sex, age, etc) then I would put more stock in them.

Exactly. Most polls are crap regardless of where the numbers fall.

I will admit the thread title does thow a good spin on the pro-life subject. It did say 60% of Maryland Democrats (not Marylanders) are pro-life when the death penalty is the subject. This is why the title is a good spin because MD Democrats are, by accepted convention, pro-choice on abortion rights. There is no link to Marylandjuice so I don't know their stance on either but it does expose what could be hypocrisy if you consider abortion a death penalty for the unborn.

It doesn't mean I agree with this or most any other poll.

The currant use of the death penalty in Maryland is a waste of time and money.
We should have 100+ people put to death every year based on the number of violent crimes. Instead we had one or two at most and none for a long time.
I would support either doing away with it or using it a hell of a lot more.

Ken, you're sounding like Dick Morris before the last election. He kept saying the polls were skewed. He was wrong the polls were right. Nate Silver was dragged through the mud for defending the accuracy of the polls.

But then again, Nate Silver just announced that San Francisco will win the Super Bowl. So maybe he is full of it!

Polls sometimes come out right, sometimes not(ask Al Gore) but the reality is you can't make a statement of fact that 800 people can in any way accurately represent 6 million. Polls are skewed by what you ask, how the polling is done, and who is polled

Statistical analysis indicates that we can say with 95% certainty that 60% +/- 3.5% of MD Democrats are pro-life. Statistics and polls matter. Thank you Nate Silver!
