Default Man Fatally Shoots School Bus Driver In Alabama, Takes Boy Hostage

An identified man was holding a boy hostage in an underground bunker in Alabama after fatally shooting the driver of a school bus Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The man reportedly asked all the children, except the boy, to get off the bus and grabbed the little one. The man shot at the driver of the bus four times when the latter tried to save the child. The attacker then carried the kid to a nearby underground bunker, CNN reported.

Any bets that this man is mentally deranged?

Arm all the bus drivers to prevent such attacks in the future..

My guess is this is part of a domestic dispute...

I heard about this on the radio this morning. I hope the youngster is still alive.

CNN is saying the man has stockpiled a bunker with enough food and water to last for months. This standoff might last a while.

Of course he is. Sane people do not shoot bus drivers, then take a 6 year old to a bunker that they have prepared for the coming apocalypse of whatever cause. Sane people don't even have bunkers, let alone shoot people and take hostages.

I heard the news say the gunman asked for one child. The rest he let go. It would seem not to be a domestic dispute. I hope they take him alive so maybe we can get some answers.

Curious, why would you say it would seem not to be a domestic dispute? Seems to me the fact that he was only interested in one child would make it much more likely that this is some sort of domestic issue.

Let me be as clear as the reporting made it out to be. The gunman asked for any child. It's still in the early stages so let's stop quibbling.

The fact that he asked for *any* child does significantly reduce the likelyhood of this being a domestic event.

I'm not quibbling, just curious as to your perspective. I'm sorry if genuine curiousity pisses you off

Who did he ask for one child? And how do we know that this is accurate.

I guess Jimmy Lee D_y_k_es knows by now that he will never get out of this alive. Wonder if he has a history of mental illness.

Standoff drags into third day as man holds boy in underground bunker

"The gunman stormed into the school bus Tuesday afternoon and demanded that the driver hand him a child."

I guess I'll just converse with other posters on this since you seem hell bent on behaving like an arse. Unfreakingbelievable.
