Default O'Malley recognizes Crownsville teen inventor in speech

O'Malley told the General Assembly about Andraka's accomplishments to highlight the state's goals in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Andraka, a 15-year-old North County High School student, won Intel's top International Science and Engineering prize after developing a paper sensor to detect pancreatic and ovarian cancers. O'Malley said 8,500 citizens chose Andraka as winner of the MDForward contest.

"We are joined today in the gallery by an inventor and entrepreneur ..." O'Malley said. "Buy stock in this guy."

That's quite an achievement--at any age.

Intel honor is, perhaps, the top HS honor any aspiring scientist can win. Extremely competitive.

    Congrats to this young man.

What's kind of funny (from the article), this young man seemed more excited about being acknowledged by O-malley than winning the top Intel prize.

O'Malley just wants the kid to donate to Martin's next campaign.
