No doubt in today's NFL half the 2000 Ravens D would have beern suspended throughout the year for the hits they put on guys.

Heard Toomer on with Conn and Garceau this afternoon. He started in again on Ray's going back out on offense during the Colts game. Garceau mentioned to him that it was the coaches that sent him out there. Toomer's response was basically, "You really believe that???"

And there was the point where Garceau SHOULD have noted... the crowd was chanting over and over in the final minutes "We want Ray, We want Ray". THAT is what triggered it. But of course Garceau, being lazy and uninformed, made no mention of it. Lazy, uninformed journalism... all around.

Glenn Clark (WNST) did something similar before the AFC title game with Heath Evans. Evans flat out admitted he didnt like Flacco because he "talks about himself", and called himself "elite". Another point where the local interviewer should take 20 seconds to point out... "Hey, ya know, Joe was responding to a specific question asked by a reporter. He didn't just call his own press conference and make a proclomation." But no, Clark just let it go.

There are times when an informed journalist should share information to paint a bigger picture for his audience, be that one person sitting next to him, or thousands watching / listening from afar. But too often these yahoos just don't do their jobs...

Ray isn't even close to Ali in the "me, me, me" talk.

What confuses me is everyone's ability to give more than an ounce of thought to Lewis and his "hypocrisy". Like everyone who doesn't like Ray Lewis is a saint. Please. Get a life.

Sounds like people are just jealous because Ray wasn't on their team or just don't like to hear someone talk all the time and actually be able to back it up with actions.

    Thats my 2¢.
I think this is a great analogy. Lots of haters on Ray, but the guy has just delivered season in and season out. Yes, it is time to retire and to Ray's credit, he's choosing the right time.
He's given so much on the field to us fans over the years. Amani Toomer isn't even close to being in the same class of impact player. He needs to keep his opinions to himself because he never had the type of impact on the field that Ray had.
In 13 years, Amani managed 5 with 1000+ yards. BFD. Never had more than 8 receiving TD's in a season. So, why are people even listening to this joker?
"Whatever, Amani. Go take a seat."

Ray could very well be the best linebacker. Hard to say this without sounding like a hater but he one of the foniest to ever play in the Nfl. Watch te espn special where he is speaking To Harvard law students and then let me know your thoughts.

Until the hit on Pitta, I might have agreed with you. On that tackle in 2001, Sharper never touched Toomer above the numbers. It might not be called today, but we never know.

Thanks for the clip though. It was great to relive that hit.

I love the ravens and think ray is one of the greatest of all time but think his religious schtick is over the top ......

its fine if he found religion after the atlanta incident and turned his life around, but ......

does the 6 kids by 4 unwed baby mama's really describe a man of god ? .......

by contrast, look at the other bible thumpers on the team like harbaugh and birk and check out their life styles, rhetoric, etc ......

ray's a great football player but frankly i can't even watch all the other crap he brings to the table and turn the channel when he starts thumping ......

Actually, I prefer the truth. You make an accusation that he is the "foniest" player ever. But you forgot something...backing for your accusation. Thus, you are not speaking truth, but opining. But don't worry. There are many here is this forum that don't understand the difference either.

Next time Amani opens his pie-hole, someone needs to show him a replay of the Behind the Bench segment in which Harbaugh turns to Ray and says "We're gonna send you out for the victory formation." Ray's reply is for the history books (LOL) "OK. Let me get my helmet".

More than that, Flacco continued and said that if a player doesn't think he's the best, he should not step on the field at all.

I agree with you that he sometimes goes overboard with the religious schtick as you say. But all Christians are sinners and have and will sin. Why is his having kids out of wedlock different than a Dan Marino, Tom Brady, etc.? Is it because he praises God?

Having kids out of wedlock is a staple of the Hollywood community.

However, once the kid makes his or her appearance, it's a done deal.

What happens over the next number of years is what we should be watching.

You bring up a good point. Why aren't people outraged at the Hollywood community for having a variety of affairs, children out of wedlock, etc.?

I don't know his personal life and only know about his personal life from what has been reported. And, by all accounts, it seems that the children are in his life.

It's because 1) we expect it from them and 2) we know that they don't pay attention to their fans anyway.

...and this, friend, is the important thing.

Any fool with the equipment, time and receptive female can be a father.

However, it takes so much more of each of us to really be a Dad!

I agree completely. I have a nine-month old boy and he had a fever last night. I stayed up with him an comforted him. There is nothing like it. Fortunately, this morning he has a little cold, but the fever is gone. But there is nothing like parenting. I cherish every moment with him.

My comments were not that I condoned the way Lewis has had these children, but, more so because there is very little difference between his lifestyle and others in the entertainment industry. Why is he being signal out and others are not? Heck, I red in the nationals that Ted Nugent fathered SEVEN kids with FIVE different women. But he is considered a hero to many on the right.

'He without sin, cast the first stone' I think religion is a hobby for most that are involved, but I thought I would just throw that out there....
