Toomer now making the rounds to talk about Ray? Sounds like someone else is now wanting to bring attention to himself.

You know if Toomer is so upset, why doesn't he complain about the networks putting their cameras on Ray? There is no "show" if the cameras are not pointed in Ray's direction.

Doesn't a guy who talks God all the time but has 6 kids by 4 women, escaped a murder conviction and is accused of used PEDs bother anyone? The only thing worse than "homer" announcers are homer fans.
If the guy was a Steeler I think it would bother more people in Maryland...
Toomer does have a ring thanks to Eli Manning.

What is his relationship with his children, etc. Has he been a responsible father? Do you know all the details in his life? Should you?

    , escaped a murder conviction
Do you know anyone in the prosecutor's side that thinks Lewis is a murderer? Do you really think he murdered those two men? Or was he in the wrong place, wrong time, and with the wrong people? Did he do foolish things in panic?

and is accused of used PEDs bother anyone?
Is being accused the same as being guilty? And deer antler serum? The whole thing here is nothing can be proven so the accusation sticks. The NFL never tested him (or any other player).

The only thing worse than "homer" announcers are homer fans.
Even worse than accusing a public figure of things we know nothing about and then acting as trial and jury?

If the guy was a Steeler I think it would bother more people in Maryland...
It still wouldn't make it right to assassinate one's character with lies and accusations, even if he is a Steeler.

I don't know your point in this.

My point here is that we don't know what is true and what is not (well, we do know about the 6 children, 4 women ). In all of this, Lewis is no saint; but what has he really done to deserve all this negative attention? Is he the only player in the NFL with character flaws? Is he the worse character of all?

And speaking of the Steelers, ever hear anything in the media about Roethlisberger's rape allegations, etc.? Wasn't he suspended for his actions awhile back? Why do we never hear of any of his past anymore, and, at the same time, we keep hearing about Lewis's past ad nauseum?

The moron has no clue that the fans were CALLING, CHANTING for Ray to get back on the field during that "run out the clock" series against the Colts in the playoffs. So that supposedly selfish, egotistical act was actually REQUESTED by the majority of fans in the stadium... and triggered by the coaching staff. So he did his dance, who gives a crap. That's what he thought the fans wanted, in his final moment ever on the field. And when he comes back for his Ring of Honor induction, he'll do it. Because that's what he thinks the fans want. I could take it or leave it. But it makes the crowd cheer louder, so obviously he / they view it as a positive. Hell, for YEARS now opposing players have been caught every single week lining up to watch it. It's become a tradition. Goofy to some, great to others. It is what it is...

Of course, nobody was calling for Toomer to come out on the field during HIS final seconds in NY... so maybe it's a hard concept to grasp.

Another piece of media laziness... just ONCE I'd like to see a mediot that talks about Ray's return to the field for the final play inform his / her audience that the crowd was calling for it, and the coaching staff obliged. You can hear it very clearly on the Game Rewind archive. You can see the coaches telling him about it on the Rave TV archives. But mediots aren't that interested in doing a credible job...

First off Ray supports his kids and is very active in their lives. One of the reasons he is retiring is so he can watch his son play next year at Miami.

Second off the murder charges against him were dropped and he was found guilty of obstruction of justice. He served his time for that. He also testified for the prosecution. In the end a jury determined there wasn't a murder but instead the accused defended themselves against a group of men who hit one of the defendants over the head with a champagne bottle and also fired at least 5 shots at them.

Finally a Johns Hopkins doctor who is one of the foremost experts in the country on PEDs as well as a consultant for the NFL on PEDs said that it is impossible to benefit from spraying deer antler spray on your tongue. Also the author of the SI story was on 105.7 and he was asked why he won't release the supposed video tape of Ray Lewis asking for the PEDs. He was also asked why he won't release a transcript of the conversation. His answer to both questions was that SIs lawyers are reviewing them and have not allowed him to do so. Now this happened in October and over 3 months later they still can't release them. That tells me they are not confident they are legit.

People need to read more than the headlines or the initial story to get to the facts about what happened in these and other cases. The media never broadcasts the truth with the same vigor as they do the sensational headlines. Of course if you are a Ray Lewis hater none of this matters to you. So if that is the case and you truly believe he is a hypocrit and his religious talk really bothers you than you should rest assured that he will get his due justice when he stands before his God.

Thanks, I hadn't heard that interview. I've been skeptical about the tape of Lewis and wondered why we haven't seen/heard it yet.
And I haven't a single sports pundit ask that question on ESPN or NFL Network.

I don't hate Ray Lewis. I don't like the public God bit. Religion is a private matter.

Maybe Toomer also doesn't realize that many of the same fans who chanted for Ray to come back out on the field in the final minute also stuck around in the seating bowl for 10 minutes after the game, while Sal Pal and several mediots demanded an on-field interview... then encouraged Ray to do one lap around the stadium to sort of say goodbye. Maybe he doesn't realize how many fans also ran back in to the seating bowl to get a glimpse of it, because they wanted to see him. Because the FANS wanted it to happen. If you're sitting somewhere else watching it, and you flat out just don't like the guy, maybe it looks selfish. If you're actually HERE and see the big picture, you know it's very much a two-way street between Ray and the fans in Baltimore.

I don't remember Toomer leaving the game in a fashion where anybody except his close friends and family cared one iota about it...

Heck, Hines Ward even admitted to being a little disappointed that his send-off wasn't more like Lewis'. He's taking it pretty hard too... just look at the poor bastard...

To some it is private, but to others, it is something to be shared.

In Ray's case, I perceive it as he is giving credit to his Creator, not to himself.

Also, I don't ever here Ray talking about any particular religious denomination, only his personal feelings.

Since one of our founding documents includes the words "...endowed by our Creator...", I feel like cutting Ray Lewis some slack.

    .....

Would you rather hear it from Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton?

Toomer is jealous that no one in NY really gave a crap about his own retirement and is mad that his offense got owned by the Ravens in the Super Bowl.

How do you feel about Ray refusing to talk to the media, trashing his teammates and sulking on sidelines all year like a 2 year old when the Ravens wouldn't give him a new contract?

Speaking for myself, I didn't think you hated Lewis. It didn't matter if you did. I was just pointing out the fallacies of the accusations (and I will admit that I didn't do the best job at it; rgh did a much better job).

If I were to publish "reports" like the ones today, I would have been ridiculed and reprimanded. But the truth doesn't really matter in today's reporting - only sensationalism - the more sensational the better. The traditional sports reporters are a dying breed.

I think someone mentioned he played for the Giants at one time. He was probably one of the best all-time at his position, the way he talks.

Sounds like you have more than just an issue about him talking about God. Otherwise why would you bring up his kids, his murder charges, and his supposed PED use?

The closest Toomer will ever get to the Hall of Fame is saying Ray Lewis' name.

    Bum-*** punk.

He's the guy Jamie Sharper almost killed in the 2001 Super Bowl

Ike Hilliard was actually the guy that Sharper nearly killed on the crossing pattern. First play of the second quarter... about the 35:00 mark...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y9Z6lE3-r8

In today's NFL, that play would have given the Giants an automatic first down in Ravens territory. In 2000, it helped kill a drive and pretty much took the short crossing route out of the Giants offense for the rest of the game. Times change...
