Ron Paul is more libertarian than republican.

Hagel is a very liberal republican.

No he's not. Hagel's more conservative than John McCain

    Hagel's conservative rating is 81%

    John McCain's rating is 73%

For republicans, Chuck Hagel's only sin was not agreeing with Bush's dumb war in Iraq...

Did you look at Hagel's record? He's pretty anti-anything liberal

On foreign policy, he has a more traditionally republican point of view than most republicans today who are owned by the Neocons and the defense industry...

FWIW, Obama is pretty much a George HW Bush republican on foreign policy. He has said on numerous occasions how much he admires the elder Bush.

How long will outspoken Hagel be able to support Obama's more hawkish foreign policy? I see an early resignation if nominated. The excuse; for personal reasons.

I doubt Hagel would've taken the job if he strongly disagreed with Obama's policies on Defense and war. It's not as if, he's unfamiliar with Obama's worldview.

    Interesting!

Bush the 1st being a former Ambassador, wouldn't have let Benghazi happen!

Obama a GHW Bush on Foreign policy...interesting indeed.

I might agree with you on tax policy! no new taxes oops!

People do lots of things due to ego. It's different being familiar with someones views, and another thing when asked/told to actively promote someones policies. Just ask Colin Powell.

Bush was VP when 300 marines got killed by Hezbollah in Lebanon, when Gadaffi bombed Pan Am 103, and when we were arming Saddam and Bin Laden...

I think Hagel is just passionate about military affairs. His military service record well known but he also used to be the deputy secretary of the VA.

The only one with an ego is McCain, the career politician who got into the Naval academy because his dad was an admiral or something...

McCain along with his shadow Graham made themselves part of the subject when they badgered the nominee endlessly.

VP? what does that have to do with anything!

Maybe Obama admired him when he was VP?

I like Bush the Elder and thought he was decent guy slightly out of his comfort zone as Prez. But his strong suit was foreign affairs.

Like I said, he never would have allowed the Benghazi to happen or would have swiftly retaliated if it had!

That would explain all those 100% ratings from the National Right to Life Committee, and his A rating from the NRA, ratings between 90% and 100% from Americans for Tax Reform, his lifetime score of 96% from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce -- the list goes on and on.

Since you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, I suggest you just keep quiet.

I think Hagel is the right person at the right time. I think he best understands the real threats that America faces in an increasingly technical world.

Amazing how some humans will cling to their ignorance as if it were a life raft -- maybe it really is.
