Also, it's rather absurd to argue that, because Columbine wasn't stopped by an armed guard (and I've never read about exactly what he did or didn't do) that we should just leave schools totally unprotected. How, pray tell, does that make schools safer? How does announcing that schools are "Gun Free Zones" make them safer? It seems that's an advertisement for any maniac looking to commit unencumbered slaughter as to where he should go. It's not a coincidence that James Holmes targeted a theatre declaring itself "gun free".
