I don't have any objection to eating horse meat, but it would be helpful if they disclosed everything that's in their burgers.

There will never be a McDonalds or Burger King in those countries where they worship cows. It's all a matter of what is socially acceptable. There is barely an original idea in whole house we do what we are trained and told to do by our particular society.

That would be India, unless there's another majority-Hindu country out there, and they definitely have McDonalds there. Just no beef. They serve chicken and fish filets, veggie burgers, and breaded cheese. Also, not too many fast-food places - probably none - in Israel or majority-Muslim countries selling pork (have a McFalafel instead)... or in America selling horse or dog meat.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was thinking the same thing and was ready to post it before I saw your post.

McDonald's India used to advertise "No beef, no pork," but I see the menu now has some sausage products (although it doesn't say what kind of sausage) in selected markets.

In Israel, there are kosher and non-kosher McDonald's. The difference? No dairy in the kosher ones, which are also closed on the Sabbath.

Meanwhile, a year ago McDonald's Israel stopped allowing teens to work on the Sabbath.

McDonalds Israel has notified the 773 teens the company had employed for weekend shifts that they will no longer be allowed to work on Saturdays due to bolstered enforcement of labor laws. The Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry has announced it will fine companies NIS 35,000 for employing Jewish teens on Saturdays.

"McDonalds will no longer employ youths under the age of 17.5 on Saturdays," a spokesperson for the food chain told Ynet. The chain does not plan to shut down the various branches, but rather intends to employ minority groups over the weekend, since their employment is not illegal in Israel.

Actually you get a pretty good idea from reading the ingredients on the package. "Pork snouts" anyone?

I've always loved the stuff, and try not to think about the ingredients.
