"'If I have to be, I guess, be penalized for my beliefs, then I guess, well, that'll be what it is,' he said, adding that, in his view, his constitutional rights should override Oregon law.
'My First Amendment rights allow me to practice my religion as I see it,' Klein said."

Maybe they should try to get a cake at a Halal Bakery.

I always wonder if these dumb hypocrites look into the personal lives of all their clients, or if they just use their religion as a cover for their prejudice against gays.

Attaboy, we should clearly force private business owners to do things they clearly don't want to do.

It would be such a wonderful world if we allowed business owners to discriminate against people for irrational reasons, you're right!

He wouldn't be the first or the last. As long as he accepts the consequences who is to say that he is wrong.

We already do that. Public accommodations laws bar discrimination based on certain characteristics of the customer.

Bmore, I have as much sympathy for homosexuals that are victims of discrimination as you do. But it's just a wedding cake... the comment about being an abomination is wrong, obviously.

The symbolism behind these folks doing something illegal is what's newsworthy, not the fact that its "just" a wedding cake.

Now if it was a black couple( man & women) the baker would have major problems.

Why is that? Shouldn't one type of violation of civil rights laws count the same as others?

The case now presents a unique legal dilemma, according to reports, since Oregon law forbids discrimination based on sexual orientation, and the U.S. Constitution protects Klein’s freedom of religion.

Klein has two weeks to file his official account what happened before the attorney general’s office decides how to proceed.

I agree. That would eliminate the religious argument.

Having said that, I think this business does have the right to draw the line IF it is against their religous beliefs.

This business received some excellent free advertising in the article.

If the baker called them an abomination that is clearly wrong.

No one asked the guy to marry them, just make a fu@#ing cake. *** does making a cake have to do with religious freedom? I work for a caterer who is very , very conservative, as soon as the law was passed he started advertising on gay and lesbian web sites.

If this baker doesn't want to show his support because he believes it is against his beliefs, so be it. If the bridal shop takes the same postion I would feel the same way.

If there are bakers out there advertising on gay and lesbian websites, wouldn't it be best for this couple to support those businesses?

I am straight and I would not use this bakery just because of the "excellent free advertising"

I didn't know you moved to Oregon. I hope you took a sweater; it gets cold there.
