Default Ron Paul One Of The Most Corrupt Members Of Congress, Report Finds

    http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/was...s-report-finds
Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul has been named one of the most corrupt members of Congress in a new report from the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

The report says Paul "double-billed" his travel expenses a number of times over the last decade, meaning he may have been reimbursed for the same flights both under his official allowance as congressman, and by either non-profit groups under his control or his campaign committee.

The revelation would be ironic in part because Paul made fiscal responsibility a central tenet of his 2012 presidential campaign. The congressman celebrated a major victory in July when his bill to audit the Federal Reserve for greater transparency passed the House.
The Paulites aren't going to stand for these pesky facts. There'll be a rallying cry from parental basement apartments everywhere.

    Lol.

Double-billed his travel expenses? Oh the horror.

I am no supporter of RP, mostly because of his conservative economic beliefs, but if double dipping travel expenses is your idea of 'corruption' within Congress, you don't have the faintest clue what goes on in that town. Travel expense improprieties aren't even a tiny blip on the corruption radar.

    Thanks for the laugh, though.

I wonder if Charlie "Crime Time" Rangel agrees?

The Liberty Committee’s checkbook for much of the period in question was under the control of Nora LeBlanc, the mother-in-law of one of Rep. Paul’s daughters. Rep. Paul’s daughter, Lori Pyeatt, has long been the treasurer for Rep. Paul’s campaign committees, as well as for the Liberty Political Action Committee and the Foundation for Rational Economics and Education (FREE), other groups that reimbursed Rep. Paul.

David James, the head of the Liberty Committee, told Roll Call that in March 2005, he discovered what he believed to be a case of accidental double billing while looking for documentation for a flight. Mr. James brought the matter to the attention of Rep. Paul’s office. Rep. Paul reimbursed the Liberty Committee $403.70 for the flight, but the incident caused a rift.

Rep. Paul stopped submitting expenses to the Liberty Committee and eventually tried to take control of the group away from Mr. James, but failed. Ms. LeBlanc turned the group’s financial records and checkbook over to Mr. James in 2006.
