    Default Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Resigns

Late night phone calls to different women

Nebraska Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy resigned abruptly Saturday in a scandal involving thousands of calls to four women on his state-issued cellphone, including one woman who said she had a romantic relationship with the politician. Gov. Dave Heineman announced Sheehy’s resignation in a hastily called news conference Saturday morning. Sheehy, a Republican, had been considered the front-runner in the 2014 gubernatorial race and had been endorsed by Heineman.

“As public officials, we are rightly held to a higher standard,” Heineman said. “I had trusted him, and that trust was broken.” Sheehy resigned after questions were raised about the cellphone calls with four women, none of whom were his wife, who filed for divorce last year. The calls, made over the last four years, were first reported by the Omaha World-Herald, which had made a public records request for Sheehy’s phone records.
I can't seem to find if he campaigned on "family values".

It should not matter if politicians run on family values or not. But if they bring disgrace on their office due to scandal we should be disappointed and expect better.

While I agree with you somewhat, it really does matter is someone runs on family values and is caught in these kinds of scandals. It's called hypocrisy. Otherwise, its just being a creep.

All leaders of our communities should incorporate family values in their campaign.

He should have made his calls on his private phone.

Better yet, those who incorporate family values into their campaigns should also incorporate them into their lives.

And "family values" is often a code word for anti-gay.

You think the guy would have been smart enough to get one of those pre-paid phones for that kind of stuff. I mean I'm sure he could have afforded one.

So what term would you use?

Hard to say, since the anti-gay crowd has corrupted most of the terms one might choose to use.

What is that supposed to mean? Anti-gay groups routinely like to dress themselves up as pro-family, but when it comes to gay families, they seem to go out of their way to try to diminish and harm these families.

Is it "family values" not to cheat on your wife?

I thought anyone who took a vow of marriage agreed to remain faithful, despite the party he/she belongs to and not to remain faithful would make anyone a hypocrite.

do you have concrete proof that this is the case here? or are you engaging in the same generalization you decry time and time again here when people make acusations about gays trying to erode Christian values and the traditional family unit?

    as I said.....

    Big Seth--

Militant gay agenda? Are you serious?

    What the hell is that?

What about all these anti-gay groups trying to do everything possible to prevent gay couples and their children from having any kind of civilly-recognized union?

care to address the post directly above your quoted here? OR is the truth too much, and it is time to try and take the debate onto another straw man?

    Big Seth--

    Marriage in Society's Moral Crosshairs

Oh, look, this pro-family anti-gay organization decides to put an opposite-sex married couple in the crosshairs of a gun sight. They claim same-sex marriage is the "greatest threat" to marriage.

These anti-gay groups love to lie, to pretend that gays are somehow attacking marriage, implying that we want to abolish marriage for opposite-sex couples. They like to use language to suggest that traditional marriage and same-sex marriage are somehow mutually exclusive.

    http://www.alliancedefendingfreedom....iage-Week1.pdf

Oops, here's another one. We are told that Ted Olson is "against marriage." Another damned lie. Mr. Olson supports marriage for same-sex and opposite-sex couples.
