I don't disagree. I am not saying Jim is a bad coach. I think he is way too emotional. Funny, I watched him a lot at Stanford and I don't recall him being anything like he was last night. That was out of control.
What I am saying is that John is much better. He has made mistakes but he almost never repeats a mistake. And his demeanor is perfect. He remains in control of one of the most individually motivated teams in all of sport, allowing freedom and incorporating players ideas while staying the man in charge. All keeping a good face on. He gets mad but he handles it pretty well.
Staying calm in situations is why you outcoach someone who does not stay calm. Jim was too busy having a heart attack over calls so he didn't coach up his team to watch for the safety. John tends to move on to the next task even when he is upset.
