Default How do the Ravens make this work ?

    Boldin
    Jacoby Jones
    Kruger
    Reed
    Ellerbe

Flacco ???? franchise ? His $17M-$20M deal could break the bank with the lingering cap problems

who stays and who goes ? So many huge impact players up for new contracts ?

I wish we could keep them all

    They're going to have to:

    1. Cut some players
    2. Draft well and pick up some good F/A's
    3. Restructure some contracts (Suggs, Ngata)
    4. Sign Joe to a more cap friendly long term deal.

(NOTE: People keep throwing around the $14M figure for tagging Joe. That's only for the NON EXCLUSIVE tag, which allows other teams to submit offers, along with 2 #1 draft picks, which the Ravens can then try to match. The EXCLUSIVE tag is in the $20M range.)

Boldin is a must keep. I'd hate to sign Joe to a monster contract and have just t.Smith catching the ball. Hopefully Ngata restructures his contract.

This draft is going to be another crucial one. I think I read somewhere that the "estimates" are the Ravens could get a generous allotment of compensatory picks in this draft. They're probably not going to have much flexibility in adding top tier (top dollar) FAs this year either, so you have to assume the outbound we'll be greater than the inbound. That likely means the 2014 draft will also be generous to Newsome and DeCosta when it comes to comp picks. They could wind up being alloted 20+ picks over the next two drafts (I think). That's probably where the Superbowls in the 50s are going to be won or lost.

    Maybe Suggs & Webb, too.

And I think Boldin & Jones are signed through next year.

yea but there has been talk about cutting them to save cap space. Boldin gets 5mil and Jones 3.5 (i think).

I wonder if, after tasting it this year, they could convince a bunch of guys to play cheaper to maybe make another run? I mean, how much money does once person really need?

Flacco will be signed which will cause Kruger and Ellerbe to go elsewhere because they'll get deals the Ravens won't be able to match because of the cap. Reed can stay if he takes a pay cut and Jones and Boldin are still under contract, I don't see them letting either of them go

Don't we usually see players wanting to get "paid" after winning a SB?

The Ravens really do have their work cut out for them this offseason.

Step 1 unfortunately is to not offer Ed Reeed a contract (or if they do it would have to be a low-ball offer).

This is where it becomes business. EVERYONE would like to see Reed return but the money is needed elsewhere. Re-signing Reed unfortunately makes the Ravens a weaker team when you consider the other team needs.

Let's give the FO credit. They have faced this situation after nearly every season and have a now-five year history of making it work!

Have they become stupid all of the sudden?
