Why wouldn't they give him one?
I believe anyone that worked in a position that would get a ring at any point during the seasons ends up getting a ring. I guess it's up to the team though?
I think when the Phillies won the WS in 2008, there were some players who had been traded away earlier in the year that got rings. They helped get them there, even if they weren't there for the playoffs.
They were still his plays that Caldwell was calling. The Ravens are a class organization, and I'd better good money Cam gets a ring.
He was fired for insubordination. And there's no doubt the Ravens would not have won the Super Bowl had he still been the OC. You seriously don't see the irony there?
(I've already stated I think he SHOULD get a ring, but it's not automatic. It's a decision that has to be made by the organization.)
Link? No, there's no "link". Organizations don't generally wash their dirty laundry in public. But organizations don't shake up things with 3 games left to go in the season unless there's a good reason. Go over to 24x7 and check out some of their threads. (try searching for Cam Cameron and see what comes up) There's more info over there than here.
Second, there's no one in their right mind who honestly believes that the Ravens would have won the Super Bowl with Cam Cameron at the helm. So the irony of saying: "Hey, Cam...we could never have won the Super Bowl with you as the OC, and that's why you were canned. But here...take this ring as a token of our appreciation" is just absurd, at some level. OTOH, he did establish the foundation for Joe, just as he did for Brees and Rivers -- BOTH of whom got better after he was out of the picture. And he was with the team for most of the season, so for that I think he does deserve the ring.
I haven't seen that reported anywhere.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/r...,6711617.storyHe did a lot of hard work and had a lot of good ideas that helped to build that, because we felt we had to do something to jumpstart us for a lot of different reasons
I agreed with letting Cam go. I've just never heard someone other than you suggest it was for insubordination. I thought maybe there was news that I had missed. I am not suggesting you are wrong as it is quite possible that is how it all went down. I was just wondering if it was conjecture or established knowledge, that is all.
Ravens are a class team, nothing to be gained by not giving Cam a ring.
He was at the helm when the Ravens won most of their games that got them into the playoffs.
Good point. Insubordination, or gross incompetence -- take your pick. Either way, he was fired for not doing his job. Generally, people who don't do their jobs don't then get rewarded in the end. It's really that simple.
As far as what was discussed @24x7, it focuses on inside information that was never "reported". The fact that it's not reported makes it somewhat subjective/dependent -- on whether or not one believes the inside information. For people who need "links", rather than using inside information and drawing logical conclusions based upon that, it's admittedly a grey area.
My question to the title of this thread is, will you change your name back to RavensFanForever?
