Why should my tax dollars have to pay for things that benefits others? If the power grid breaks in New Orleans, that's their problem, not mine. My taxes belong to me and only me, because I earned it and the guberment didn't.

Lacking a grasp of a relatively simple concept like what constitutes the power grid pretty much removes one from a reasoned conversation of the much more complex issue of resource allocation.

Nonetheless, the energy needs of the country have to be addressed in the present and for the future. R&D in alternate sources of energy is imperative, as is a modernization of the power grid.
