What a stupid thing to say. She was caught by surprise in her own home. What is she supposed to do, walk around with it attached to her pregnant hip all day? She couldn't just leave one sitting out on the kitchen table just in case, given that she had a small child and responsible gun ownership means keeping them locked up so children can't get to them. I absolutely believe armed citizens can protect themselves, but your headline in this case is positively moronic.
