Default 49ers fans unable to accept loss

    http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/ni...ng-game/page5/

This is a good thread with some legit points in it (especially the OP). However, you'll see time and again a post begin with "it's obvious we were the better and more talented team" or something similar.

Fact is, the 49ers fans all bought into the media hype machine of kaep and the unstoppable juggernaut of the 49ers. Hell, most of them won't even say the simple words "we got beat," because the idea of possibly losing the SB wasn't even entertained.

Footnote: If you check out the Broncos boards, they're still crying about the refs 3 weeks later. Broncos and 49ers fans are basically mirror images, full of arrogance but short on lombardis.

The question is would our fans have looked the same if we had lost either game. Chances are the answer is yes.

Nope. Ravens fans didn't have an entitled, arrogant attitude. Many of these idiot 9ers fans predicted a blowout, some by 30 POINTS.

A thread with only 12 posts and it looks like only 3 or 4 posters gave the Ravens a win by two TDs. Yeah, that's the same.

It was an emotional and close game, topped by a coach who emphatically disagreed with the non-hold call at the end of the game. It's only natural the fanbase is still reluctant to accept defeat.

There is no doubt in my mind that if the Ravens would have lost, there would have been many fans lighting up the boards, screaming about the power outage, etc. and how the 49ers were holding the whole game, but no flags.

Yes they would. People on this board wanted Flacco gone most of the season and especially after losses...

Jim H was right about that non call at the end of the game. However were I a niners fan, I would be more upset by the poor play selection in that series in the red zone. And the poor coaching overall. First play of the game, illegal formation? First play of the second half, after a halftime when the coach needed to impart a sense of urgency, a runback from deep inside the end zone? I don't know that the Ravens have the better team but they clearly have the better coach.

What choice did Harbaugh have but to whine about the call?

It was 4th down and their absolute last hope.

It's kinda telling that Crabtree didn't whine about it.

    What's your point?

Fact is the Ravens have suffered through tough losses similar to this one for the 9ers for years. They will get no sympathy from Ravens nation.

    Waaaa.

Send them a video of Joe at DisneyWorld, Joe on Letterman, and the downtown parade today.

Then ask them (and Falcon fans) about the last play of the NFC Championship game against Atlanta, where no call was made...

I'm still screaming about that last point.
The reality is, the officials let them play, and it was nice to see that they didn't change at the end of the game.

I completely understand the fans' frustration. It's tough whenever a season ends with a painful loss. I remember how bad I felt when Cundiff went wide last year. So I can understand some of the niners fans reaction.

But some of the conspiracy theories I've seen are absolutely idiotic.

Have you heard the one about Ray Lewis? You know, how the whole game was fixed in order to honor him since he announced his retirement?

Most Ravens fans love the way he played for 17 seasons, but we also acknowledge that he's one of the most polarizing figures in football. Not exactly universally beloved like Cal Ripken or Ernie Banks. I guess "The Shield" ordered Kaepernick to hit Ed Reed between the numbers. The suggestion that Goodell fixed the game for Ray Lewis is preposterous. Those fans get zero sympathy from me,they can go f*#k themselves.

You gotta be kidding me. Go back and check the arcives for threads about Raven's fans complaining about the refs. How many games have the Ravens "lost" because of bad calls? If the ref had pulled out the flag, called holding, and the 49ers had punched it in and won the game, everyone in Baltimore would have been claiming the refs cost them the game. The call was probably technically holding, but the refs hadn't been calling the db's very tight all game so in the interest of consistency it was a good no call. Had it been the Ravens on that side and no holding called on 4th down on Boldin, I am sure Raven's fans would be doing the same thing as 49er fans. Just the nature of fans.

I'm still having a hard time accepting last years loss in the AFC Championship where the better team, and the team the outplayed the other team lost.

I know that would have changed a lot of things but technically we could have won two SuperBowls if the better team had emerged from New England last year, just like this year.

No different that Ravens fans after the 2006 season. There are still rockhead ravens fans who think the 2006 team was better than the Colts.

The niner fans are idiots. They have a good team and will be back next year and probably win it. It wasn't their year and frankly, the Ravens were not going to be denied...even with a power outage.

I think the Ravens will hit salary cap hell and may just make the playoffs...but who knows. That's why they play the games!

    Go Ravens!
