Power outage: "This wouldn't happen in a Major League city"

Remember when Howard Cosell said this at an Orioles game once (in the 70's?) when the lights went out at Memorial Stadium? I never heard the same said about New Orleans..if we had lost I would have never forgiven the Superdome officials. Thankfully it was not to be.

By the way, I watched much of the game again last night (the ending three times!) and it was SO much more enjoyable this time around. We're watching the entire game again with friends this weekend at a much more relaxed "Super Bowl party."

I thought the power outtage would be a benefit to the Ravens, because it would give the D line more rest.

it's suspicious, and it may have been a momentum shifter, but SF is a team known for coming back from big deficits. they were a strong 2nd half team this year. so the comeback may have happened even if the lights didn't go out.

I think 2 bigger momentum changers were the questionable call that gave Akers a chance to re-kick the FG, and the Rice fumble.

The sack on Flacco when McKinnie looked inside and left the DL unabated set up the poor punt by Koch which Ginn returned to the Ravens' 20. Suddenly the 49ers had scored 2 TDs in 4 minutes then Rice fumbles leading to the Akers flop and another 3 points. I was feeling like the Pittsburgh AFCCG was being replayed.

After the delay, it really looked to me like the Ravens were going into one of their funks that characterized some games early in the season. It really was Flacco's play that lifted the team up and got them going, and then the defense made their last great stand.

I was thinking at the time that both teams would have to suffer from the delay, and they did both have their momentum broken. The difference was the Ravens had really good mojo working, and the 49ers were on the ropes, so with both teams getting turned around it was the Ravens pushed in the wrong direction.

How do you do that? I have only basic cable, is a replay available to me?

I recorded the entire game on our Verizon FiOS DVR. If you have the NFL Channel on your cable lineup, they are replaying the game at 8 pm tonight, with just the action (no commercials, no non-action sequences). About an hour and a half long. I"m recording that too. I just LOVE this NFL Channel, it comes with our basic cable here in Howard County. It has been fantastic this post season, didn't watch much during the regular season. It wasn't around in 2001.

It's possible to recrod FiOS with a VCR, but complex. Don't know your set up.

Exactly. And the TD before that happened when two Ravens DBs knocked heads with each other trying to tackle. The SF "comeback" had much more to do with the Ravens being totally out of focus after the blackout than with anything SF had to offer. SF were essentially beat at that point, you could tell in their players' faces, no matter what they try to tell you about "character" or anything else.
