I seriously don't think you Dunbar hatin' peeps will ever get OVER it... Please take this however you wish OK.... Dunbar was the only team who didn't vote to disband the MSA and go to the MPSSAA. So if you don't like the current setup then don't blame Dunbar. They may have been the only school on top of things as they are now. But oh yes Dunbar received some nice uniforms courtesy of Under Armour and some just don't like it and hatin' on it. Funny thing though, I probably will not be able to find a single posts from these folks with any level of hate for any other schools UA may have donated like things. Why!
Yes, why would any kid care to go to another school with Dunbar having such nice uniforms and new playing feel. Well, I'd imagine many kids simpy because Dunbar , like you, is just not for everybody.
Looking at Dunbar's schedules from the last 9 years, the Calvert Hall game doesn't seem as much of a 1-game thing as the Dunbar fans will try to make out.
Dunbar fans always seem to have excuses for why they always lose Game 1 whenever they play any decent teams:
2004- Gilman (9-1)- L
2005- Loyola (8-3)-L
2006- Loyola (10-1)-L
2007- Gwynn Park (2-7)- W
2008- Gwynn Park (8-3)- L
2009- Randallstown (1-8)-W
2010- Randallstown (3-6)- W
2011- Dunbar (DC) (9-3)- W
2012- Calvert Hall (10-3)- L
You can point to the Calvert Hall game as 1 game, but I see a trend here, 1-5 in Game 1s against teams that finished the season with a winning record. It seems that when Dunbar plays good out of city teams, they usually lose, with Dunbar (DC) being the lone exception, a game which I believe was called early due to a fight.
Game 1 is usually a rare time Dunbar plays any decent non-city, non-1A competition, and every time they've taken on an even pretty good Maryland team resulted in a loss.
Dude listen and get your head outta you know what, what I'm saying is that no one wants to go to a losing program or kids these days don't want to go to a program and build their own legacy, it's easy to go to Dunbar when the kid name rings out Dunbar comes calling and can flaunt 10 state titles since the inception of mpssaa, before than Dunbar didn't matter. Inner city kids don't have the monies to go to your gilmans and such, how come young Cyrus didn't go to Dunbar or you Rodney Elliott ? How come Turk didn't send his daughter to Dunbar can you answer that? And you can take how you want but honestly the playing field isn't level...didn't river hill straight smash the poets in a scrimmage...again why would any kid want to go to Mervo or forest park when Dunbar wins the rec league of Maryland high school football...I'm only asking??
Dude, lets look at reality and stop listening to the whacko demons in your head. There are many many many schools with various settings. Why you are stuck on stupid about why would any kid go to any school other than Dunbar simply baffles me. However, that's something that should clear up when you grow up much like the kids who only seek uniforms for high school when they and their parents grow up.
Just sayin'

Gilman, one of the best teams in the state. They seem to have lost also.
2012- Good Counsel (11-1)
2011- Good Counsel (12-0)
2010- Calvert Hall (10-1)
2009` DeMatha (11-1), Good Counsel (11-1), Calvert Hall (8-4)
2008- Loyola (11-0), MSJ (7-2), McDonogh (3-6)
2007- DeMatha (10-2), GTPrep (3-7), Loyola (0-1), MSJ (6-4)
2006- DeMatha (12-0), McDonogh (6-3)
2005- Undefeated in a mere 9 game season
2004- DeMatha (11-1)
And these are only loses to local teams. Good teams do lose. But hell, I see that Gilman lost to MSJ in 2008 who was beaten by inferior 1A Alleghany who was beaten by Fort Hill twice who was beaten by Dunbar. Care to guess the setting Dunbar beat Fort Hill in 2008.

Yes, Dunbar has lost games but I stand that they were but one game - one lose in the count. In the end, Dunbar landed on its feet and on top. Dude, one just doesn't make excuses when they hold the title trophy. Wanna examine or place the records of some other top teams under a microscope over the last 9-years?
Ok first_down you're right the poets are the best thing since sliced bread; all of the kids that attends Dunbar and play football go their because its on Orleans ST and around the corner from Johns Hopkins, they refuse to go to any other school because Tommy Polley and his team started a trend and since no other school has mattered since in baltimore city public schools...they're n a league of their own. In the last 8 years have the poets even lost to another city school I'm curious; so for the sake of not continuing in this convo you're obvious fan boy and everybody on this board is wrong....finally I don't understand why you don't see my point Dunbar is just like Alabama in football or Kentucky in basketball...Dunbar is the best thing going in baltimore city public schools in athletics, so again why would a kid want to go any other place when the poets are stacked and favored to win Balto. City rec league every single year a beautiful stadium to play on spanking new uniforms with your name on it every year what is it that you don't get!!!!!
There goes those demons in you with cesspool of the mouth again. I did not say Dunbar is the best thing since sliced bread. What I am saying is that Dunbar has been a good program who has had great success due their committment to excellence and good fortune. They play a lot of teams from al walks and have become a defacto standards for others to measure or validate themselves whether you come to accept it or not. Teams will queue up for a date to play Dunbar and no other team in the state carry that much clout and that includes Gilman, Calver Hall, Good Counsel, River Hill, and many other schools in my opinion. And it's not all about the game Dunbar will give them but the idea of just going up against the legend. When any team outside of Baltimore City secures a date with Dunbar including just scrimmages, it's talked about ad nausieum on this board, That's clout only Gilman and Calvert Hill supporters can sustain threads here. Everyone outside of Dunbar keep Dunbar threads going going and going. Dunbar is a draw, recognize!
Dunbar doesn't need to be the Alabama of football or Kentucky in basketball for high school. In Maryland, the name DUNBAR stand on its own and it's very clearly recognized on its own merit. Listen dude, every kid doesn't want to attend Dunbar nor can they if they all did want to attend Dunbar. Again, I just don't know why you insist of pursuing that whacko line of thought. You are obsessed about Dunbar having a new field. So would you rather they continued to play all their games away or have Poly as their home? You just want the have nots to continue to be have nots while the Gilmans and Calvert Halls and River Hills and other haves flourish at the expense of others.
I get it, I get it OLI. You equate fear with respect. So if teams don't fear Dunbar then they don't respect them. I see where you're coming from now. No wonder you are outside looking in.
So tell me OLI, name one program beside Dunbar that you know fears another team and name the feared team. This should be a good one!
I don't know who fears who but there are definitely teams that duck teams and definitely duck challenging schedules. Calvert Hall comes to mind. The CHC people have said on this board recently that Dunbar is ducking them after last years game. They called and asked about playing again this upcoming season and Dunbar declined. Now some could say this is fear. I'm just saying, as we know I'm a Dunbar supporter and FAR FROM A CHC FAN!
So let me get this straight. Non-inferior 1A teams like Wise, Quince Orchard, Westminster, Arundel, Damascus, Seneca Valley, Middletown, Douglass PG, River Hill, Suitland, Huntingtown, Old Mill, Franklin, McDonough, Patuxent, and so many others are out there and you are saying that Calvert Hall, The Calvert Hall, is known to have run behind a 1A Dunbar looking for a game and now shouting fear when turned down!!!!! Damn I cannot believe that an MIAA team has reduced itself or stoop so low to be blown off by a freaking 1A public school. Damn. Well, I just may need to speak with Calvert's daddy. Who's your daddy Calvert? BigS would know.
No no fellow. You will not get off letting GA be your temp mouth piece. I asked you to name a feared team and the team who feared them. And sport, like fear and respect, don't get it confused with a busy or topped off schedule. Teams only have 10 games with most taken by league play. In such a case, that leaves only one or two games each year to weigh among a lot of other schools who may want in.
By the way, do you know who's Calvert's daddy?
