You know something that has really confounded me was that Noone has ever really said what happned to EVT...I mean, there was a huge drop off in what many considered to be the best Public school program in the metro area...

I think it was a few things:

1. The last couple of freshman classes were not very strong. Very competitve and hard to get into the school. Also the school has no control over who gets in and it goes to a complete lottery. So the magnets in the county dont know what they get until the kids come in for summer workouts.

2. With the above and moving up to a much more competitve 3A was the perfect storm. Not only moving up to 3A, but a 3A that was very strong for once. There were many strong teams in the County 3A 4A league the past couple of seasons. That usually does not happen.

I think that ET is much better suited with 2A football. Many believe that full magnets have an advantage, but I think they are at a disadvantage. I am a parent of a former graduate and still know much about the school. The coaches are all the same and the work ethic is astounding but the talent pool has dropped a little. With that said ETs JV was pretty good and had some good players and I believe that the Varsity will make some noise for the next couple of years at the 2A level.

Hereford didnt look very good last season. They will be a good county team...I dont see them making any noise outside of 695

each and every year...Franklin manages to over achieve for the most part..but we never really know why...or what is the secret to their success...not sure how else to put it

AO you really need to get back out there and watch these games! Franklin overachieved? You can't f'ing be serious! Not only did they not overachieve last year, they completely underachieved! They were stacked last year and were definitely the fastest public team in the state and one of the fastest period. Milford Mill overachieved, not Franklin!

Youngest team in the area? No they weren't. They had young parts in the twins and Smothers(Hinton didn't even play until end of the year) but the rest of their team were upperclassmen.

Rob A can speak on this better than me but that seems like a little off numbers wise. 35 returners for any team is a boat load! I don't know Franklin's roster well enough to actually dispute you but I know about the starters and no way will they be returning a whole load of starters!

That seems to be the roster but what I'm talking about is starters returning. 35 players is definitely a lot of players returning but looking at that roster, looks like they might have 8 returning starters(depending on who stays there and they played a lot of two way starters) and I'm counting Hinton who didn't even play until the end of the year(and I don't think he started when he played). So they don't return much as far as who actually played last year. They still have some serious speed and skill players there and that's no denying but they lose too much in very key places.

If a team is defined as all the members and not just the seniors or the starters, then BJC is correct to me backed by the hard facts rather than just an opinion shot from the hip. 51 players is a good solid number of player nowadays for public schools, especially if Franklin isn't one of the traditional programs that breed players numbers wise year in and year out.

The only issue that comes to mind for me only based on shooting from the hip opinions around here is that talk of fifth year or reclassifyed players. It's not me saying these things but only what othrs here have publicaly posted complete with names.

This list is an expanded list after they moved up about 10 jv players for the playoffs,and like GA said 70 to 85% played both ways,Smothers and another fresh were on varsity and out of the two Smothers had an impact,three sophs made major contributions,maybe 3 jrs and the real major players were Srs.
