Default Seven Million Will Lose Insurance Under Obama Health Law

    http://p.washingtontimes.com/blog/in...ost-7-million/

CBO said that this year's tax cuts have changed the incentives for businesses and made it less attractive to pay for insurance, meaning fewer will decide to do so. Instead, they'll choose to pay a penalty to the government, totaling $13 billion in higher fees over the next decade.

But the non-partisan agency also expects fewer people to have to pay individual penalties to the IRS than it earlier projects, because of a better method for calculating incomes that found more people will be exempt."

It may actually be cheaper to pay the penalty than to pay premiums. More need to get on the gravy train!

Our Carefirst premiums went up nearly 20%. In the words of those who love this law, "just imagine what it would have been". One of the major selling points was that Obamacare would bend the cost curve down. The reality is that Obamacare is increasing the cost of healthcare to American's who purchase insurance. Wonder if Krugman had that anticipated this because he is right so often.

Considering the bill was written by health care industry insiders, should anyone be surprised that the promised benefits were specious.

I look forward to all the progressives who supported this moronic legislation weighing in !

Only 7 million?? Romney was telling us that 20 million people would lose coverage..

I guess he got his numbers mixed up as it appears upwards of 20 million people will actually gain coverage...

SURVEY OF INSURANCE COMPANIES WARNS OF 2014 PREMIUM STICKER SHOCK

The findings highlight the sticker shock in health care premiums that awaits the relatively young and healthy in both the small group and individual markets as the ACA is fully implemented. The survey finds cost of premiums for this group will increase by an average of 169 percent. Conversely, the survey found that the premiums of older and sicker individuals in these markets will be relatively subsidized by the ACA, with that group seeing an average decrease in premium costs of just under 25 percent.
    Suckers......

It WILL be cheaper to pay the tax penalty but most people can't afford to take the risk of possibly getting ill or injured and not having health insurance...

Obamacare or no Obamacare premiums have always gone up and will probably continue to do so. Let's not pretend like health insurance was all rainbows and puppy dogs with super low premiums that never increased until the dastardly Obamacare came along and ruined everything.

... but the requirement to insure people with pre existing conditions removes that risk. That is a perverse incentive.

Most young people won't care about getting a health care plan until they get older or married and start having a family. I'm 57 but I haven't forgotten what it was like to be young.

Single payer for all... the only sensible solution... will eventually get here.

But we're going to have to buy off BigInsure first.

And to think I thought Obamacare was going to fix all that. So all it really did was force a few million uninsured into buying a healthcare plan or pay a tax?

I thought if you didn't pay, you had health care on the government anyway.

It depends on your household income

A person making six figures wouldn't be able to get Medicaid

It actually does quite a few very good things, but I'm sure none of that matters to you.

If that is the answer then it is not really the only sensible solution. Not with the way the government has been run.
