Impossible. To name just a few, didn't the mayor and her "entourage" just spend a week in New Orleans partying before attending the Super Bowl? And didn't City Hall just spend over $640,000 on a sole-source contract for new video phones the mayor didn't even know she had on her desk? And didn't the city close down several firehouses to save money? And wasn't SRB just named official Secretary of the Democratic National Convention?

Foxes watching the chicken coop - disgraceful and ill-managed.

I wonder how much they are going to take from the productive to keep the non-productive happy now. I think they have cleaned out pretty much every pot of money the state has.

Just another example of how the poorest cities, as well as the most dangerous, are all led by Democrat mayors.

    3. Cincinnati , OH 27.8%
    4. Cleveland , OH 27.0%

It’s no secret that a major component to democratic policies is to enlarge the number of citizens that rely on government handouts. This is accomplished by depressing the economy, creating new entitlement programs or by changing qualifying requirements for entitlements already in place. Regardless of the approach and the “save society” rhetoric, it always boils down to taxing productive members of society and then redistributing that money to the less productive or to the outright unproductive. Those that receive something for nothing, in theory, get used to their situation. They want it, or better yet for the politicians, they need it to continue and will then re-elect the re-distributors.

If any of you had bothered to read the article it's the city employee's health costs for healthcare and pensions that's causing the deficit.

..And unlike other cities at least SRB had the foresight to have this study done before it's too late. Kudos to her on that, and I'm no SRB fan...

I did read the article. What the article left out is where did the pension money go? How many times was the pension fund raided, to be "repaid" later?

I can't speak for YB but most of us are aware that some people (of any color) spend more than they should on vehicles.
A lot of them are leased and even rented.
Like Baltimore City, most of us could get approved to purchase the nicest cars out there. Or at least with getting into Bentlies and Maybachs. But we just know better. The trick is knowing better and spending reasonably.

Hell I still own the same house I bought 15 years ago. For the last five years I earned more each year than I paid for the house.
Expensive cars don't impress me. Millionaires driving three years old $30k cars impress me.

Maryland is one of the richest states, yet Baltimore not so much. Granted the state gets a lot of wealth from around DC, but the years and years of incompetence from the Baltimore government cannot be overlooked.

It is clear that the days of the municipal employee pension are over. At least try should be. Baltimore needs to nut up and at least stop offering new pensions.

I am fairly sure the city did to keep things looking fine. Sort of like how o'liar raided the transportation fund and now says we need to raise taxes to fund it.
Remember a few years back when o'liar was mayor. The school system "lost" around 50 mil and said the schools would close unless the state gave them the money. Well BE told them they would give them the money with a independent audit team to find out where the money went. All of a sudden they "found" the money.
Too much of that has gone on in the city for me to believe the pension fund money has not been redirected. Remember, the people do pay into that. Maybe not enough, but something should be there.

...and some like you being paid by the taxpayers when you should be working your government job? Right.
