Dr. Carson said each baby should be given " a birth certificate, electronic medical records and a medical savings account". What part of the speech raised Obama's ire....the part about the birth certificate?

Doubtful, if anything that upset birthers. Also, giving every baby a medical savings account might be upsetting for some...

Chances are that many are basing their interpretation of what Dr. Carson actually said on somebody else's interpretation or comments about what Dr. Carson said. And especially if those sources tell them it was an attack on President Obama.

The part about being respectful seems to have been mostly ignored. I can just imagine all of the "Huzzah, Dr. Carson for putting the president in his place!!" links being passed along via all the social media now.

Dr. Carson is a very fine person, and it is quite telling that some will be quite disappointed that Dr. Carson is not being attacked for his comments. And they know who they are.

Dr. Ben Carson not only proved he has the stones to speak bluntly in front of the President of the United States about the status of America, he is one very smart cookie.

"In a wide-ranging speech that was inspirational and patriotic, Carson — who came from a poverty stricken background — touched on the need to accept personal responsibility, education, faith, runaway Washington’s spending, reforming the tax code without engaging in class warfare, and other issues.

You’ll note what appears to be a lot of negative body language coming from President Obama during Carson’s address.

He [Dr. Carson] also asserted that the deficit and the national debt are huge problems, underscoring that moral decay and fiscal irresponsibility destroyed the powerful Roman empire from within and it can destroy America."

One thing not mentioned in any of the news stories, Dr. Carson told Fox News in an interview after his speech that he's retiring from surgery in June.

You apparently you missed the whole point of his speech or is it the typical denial response or what? He was referring to the cost of all the entitlement programs for illegitimate children in this country. Wait a minute, let me guess, you voted for Obama right?

If we follow in the footsteps of the Roman Empire, that means that the U.S. has another 300+ years as the most powerful nation on earth.

Oh no! Negative body language! This is contentious.

Actually, it's really not. If we're just going to make stuff up, how about we have some fun?

Can take something like a solar flare and make it's motives political? Like increase solar activity is because the Administration's appeasement policy towards the sun?

Rome wasn't supporting the entire world. The US is a bright burning star that will most likely burn out much faster than Rome.

If we were following Rome's example, we'd be conquering other countries, stealing their treasure and forcing their people to work for us.

We don't conquer other countries. We just exploit them economically
