A terrible loss of life to be sure.
Since this happened in Maryland, the perp will live out his days with 3 hots and a cot, TV, college courses and recreational activities.
The police did their usual post-mortem mop-up.

That is a very sad story. At least he didn't harm the children.
To the surprise of no one, Shiflett has quite a criminal history.
Very sad for the children involved.
Sound like she was a "a good girl, just starting to turn her life arround"!
5'9" 160 lbs
A short little punk that has to beat up on women.
It is a shame. Unfortunately her drug and criminal history got her hooked up with this violent little man and it cost her the ultimate price. I hope there is someone responsible to care for the kids.
Was the killer the father of the little girl?![]()
If she had had a gun, she might still be alive.
I'm shocked that the killer did not obey a protective order or listen to the police who told him to "leave her alone."
What else can we do when a piece of paper won't protect the life of a woman from a violent man?.....
Perhaps we need stronger protective order laws, or a new protective order law that the criminals will follow and obey -- yeah, that will work....
"Here’s what I learned: there is no bio-genetic code that produces a rapist, or a serial killer, or an arsonist who giggles at the flames. We make our own monsters. We build our own beasts. Child protection and crime prevention are inextricably intertwined. And the earlier the intervention, the greater our chances of a successful outcome." Andrew Vachss
So where's the "blame the cops" crowd, still sleeping I'd wager. If the punk was violent, wouldn't you go into hiding instead of thinking a piece of paper was going to protect you? It never ends.
Restraining orders all too often just seem to further incite stalkers and make them more determined to get to their intended victims. In this case, the police even warned the victim not to go back there.![]()
