Where do you get that crap?
It offends NA's.
“If it went through a vote [of Indians], I think it would be overwhelming to drop it. I’ve always thought the word [Redskins] was very offensive,” said George Tiger, chief of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, which is also based in Oklahoma and has 75,000 members.
All major Native American organizations have formally called on sports teams to discard Indian names and mascots.
“They’re saying that it’s an honor. They’re not taking our word for it, Native people’s word for it, that WE DON'T WANT THIS!,” said Robert Holden, deputy director of the National Congress of American Indians. It is the largest, oldest and most representative organization of Native American tribes.

Spare us the false indignation. You may try and fool a lot of people on this board but I can see through you like you were a clear pane of glass. You are a typical Washington-hating [slur deleted] that hates everything associated with Washington sports teams. Your act is old, tired, and worn out.
You actually couldn't care any less about what Washington's NFL team was named if you actually wanted to. You are just using it as a convenient excuse to bash yet another Washington sports team. I have some very bad news for you. Daniel Snyder is definitely not changing the name of his team, the Washington Redskins, ever. As long as Roger Goodell and Snyder's fellow NFL owners don't give a damn about the name, Redskins, then nothing will ever be done about it. As long as members of the Congress, the D.C. City Council, and the PG County Council are given free Redskins tickets, they won't care care very much about the name, either. All they will care about is RGIII and as long as RGIII doesn't mind playing for a team called the "Redskins" then no one else will care.
Why don't you grab your Teddy Bear and put on your favorite Baltimore Clippers hockey sweater and go suck on your thumb. Maybe while you're at it, you can dream about the hockey team that your city will never get.

Oh StevenJB, nice try.
Trivialize away all you want, it won't work.
There is no "false indignation" on my part as I've been railing against the r-word since before the arrival of the present millennium.
The only thing I truly "hate" are racist comments that hurt and offend people and false whiney accusations like yours. I don't even "hate" the steelers, I respect them but dislike them immensely. As for washington teams, they don't matter enough to even dislike, thats for dallas, philly and new york fans.
I have some bad news for you. The name change is coming whether you like it or not. I used to think it was later rather then sooner but I'm not so sure anymore with this latest tide. This topic usually comes and goes but this latest tide seems to have some depth.
In the end the only ones "clutching Teddy Bears and sucking their thumbs " as you so childishly put it are r-word apologists who cling to a hurtful and offensive name at the expense of Native American's.
Inch by inch...
